Mads will 100% leave before the end of June regardless of our division. If we are in EFL and they embargo us, we will still be able to sign out of contract players and 6 month loans to ‘staff up’ to a squad of 23. One glimmer of positivity in the policy we appear to have of discounting our u21s from playing a part this season is they won’t have the standing to count in our 23 man squad, so there’ll be plenty of room few new signings on frees and loans even if we are under embargo. Not ideal, but  would enable us to reinforce the squad to an extent.

He looked better as the comparison was Danny Ward but he was average as well towards the end of the 22/23 season - for example, he was very good vs. Everton but awful vs Fulham. In fact, the stats for expected goals conceded suggested during his time in goal he wasn't much better than Ward.

 

And remember Jakob is young and just coming back from a major injury. He's not played a huge amount of games, and the goalkeeping position is a huge one. If his form drops and Mads is still injured, we're screwed.

how bad is that though for Ward? Someone literally steps off the treatment table straight back onto the pitch ahead of him..

To be honest I would’ve started Jacob over Ward when he was still on the treatment table!!

I think the rumours around Rudkin's holiday were correct. He is now working on sales and will then look at signings. 

 

The two of them, Rudkin and Whelan, when presented with a cheque of £80m did not have forward plan. They made a bid, out of the blue for Nathan Ake once the sale was finalised. We did the same with Faes and Fofana. We do it every single time. The reports of new signings will increase once we manage to get one or two out the door - if we do.

 No one is going to get a pay rise or a bumper new contract from their club if their agent links us to them! Club will probably laugh and say go for it properly ant and dec style..

Aren’t we usually low on rumours as a club?  Our seeming unwillingness to play the rumour game will only decrease their prevalence.

Almost all of our rumours come from the other team or from journalists who are linked with the region we're buying/selling in.

That was this week right ? Virtual silence for two weeks. We’ve had more (albeit outgoing) rumours these 4 days then we had for two weeks prior. I have no idea if we was on holiday and no problem if he does but surely someone covers, it’s like we decided 13th Jan is the day to start

If I was RVN I’d be getting seriously pissed off with this shit show. He’d have every right to walk if Rudkin and his team fail to sign any more players.

Not backed with your own staff, bought one player for £2m for a team that needs quality. He has not been given a fair chance. It must be so frustrating. We need better coaches, especially a defensive one. 

 

We're in the middle of Jan, and the rumours have dried up. The club are so frustrating, we can see the lies that are being fed through.

If Rudkin and Top don’t deliver then he will walk, and that means we are championship bound it’s absolutely crucial we bring in reinforcements in this window.

Yes, even Woyo was not known far ahead. Its the way we choose to operate, but some want the drama of some gobshite 'spilling' the exclusive.

Yes they have but that’s not how the process seems to work now . Agents have nothing to lose by leaking details of possible deals and it’s unlikely that any strictures on confidentiality would be respected . If we are at the “ looking” stage , given the time taken to get an uncontested signing like WC in the door nothing much is happening until ten minutes to cut off time on deadline day
