CrispinLA in Texas Posted 17 May 2022 Posted 17 May 2022 Lyon next rising star Malo Gusto plays as a right, just saw his YouTube highlights and he's incredibly talented for a 18year old. Lyon seem to produce great players Bruno Guimaraes is doing wonders at Newcastle

UniFox21 Posted 18 May 2022 Posted 18 May 2022 Overall quite a worrying article, can only think the losses are still Covid related? 1
Guest Chocolate Teapot Posted 18 May 2022 Posted 18 May 2022 If we're that broke you'd imagine we're after frees....which no one is suggesting we are. I'm very confused about what we're going to do this summer. Surely we can't expect 6 players without some decent net spend, particularly as they have to improve the first 11

Dahnsouff Posted 18 May 2022 Posted 18 May 2022 So Torino will not make Brekalo’s loan a permanent switch so they can afford Praet (Allegedly), so is Brekalo any good? Seems to play LW, but can play AM and RW

Seems to play LW, but can play AM and RW Brekalo has told Torino he doesn’t want to stay (rather than Torino not wanting him) I have liked him for a couple of years during his time at Wolfsburg, but would say Lookman is probably just as good if not better really and the cost for both is probably very similar 2

Surely we can't expect 6 players without some decent net spend, particularly as they have to improve the first 11 It's a strange one, we keep being reminded that the rebuild will have to be funded by outgoings but isn't that obvious? No team goes and signs 6 new players without getting rid of a fair few as you can only ever register 25 players anyway. I personally don't see how we get 6 in as realistically we need 8-10 out as I don't see us having a 25 man squad next season anyway, certainly not all of players we want to keep as you simply can't keep that many happy without Europe. If its true that we are facing £90m losses (not sure what this relates to unless its just the culmination of problems we're facing since covid and the training ground and stadium expansion) then where will significant funds be coming from? To get 6 in we'd likely need to raise £100-120m in transfer fees which isn't possible without selling a key first team player. If finances are tight we can still get some deals done but I'm nervous about the sorts of players we'd go for, we've not shopped cheaply for a while and it's a new regime since we were very good at doing so. 1

We will probably see Mendy go, Vesty will be sold as will Bertrand for small fees. Praet will also be let go. There’s no point getting hung up on articles or hear say, the club will operate within their means as always and in pretty sure Brendan wouldn’t be talking of a squad refresh if discussions were not already had. We will be fine, unless anyone has spotted Rudkin playing the flute at the clock tower?

The club have probably told Percy and other trusted journalists to put the word out that we’re broke, hopefully so we can lower transfer fees at the negotiation table like we’re doing with Lookman!! If I recall correctly we said we have no finances last summer, yet we still had a net spend of 50m+. The big worry in this article is the idea that we need 6 players. Sorry but how many clubs get it spot on 6 times in a summer window? It rarely happens. Unfortunately this signals to me some poor transfers are coming and we can expect at least one dud like Ryan Bertrand, possibly more. I think we can bypass the need for 6 players if Brendan puts his ego to one side and gives a couple players a chance.. Soumare being the prime example. Maybe we could also promote 1 or 2 players from the academy. I am really worried about this ‘rebuild’. 6 players = disaster in my opinion.

AjcW Posted 18 May 2022 Posted 18 May 2022 Of the above i've picked out some 'Proper Brendan Signings' Lingard Januzaj Belotti They fit his, 'broken and I can fix them/realise that original potential' type perfectly!

indierich06 Posted 18 May 2022 Posted 18 May 2022 **** it, break the bank - players like Colwill, De Ketaleare and Madueke are all assets which will essentially increase in value over time. We're a selling club, just make sure we bring in some players who are going to make us a tidy profit down the line. 1
Ric Flair Posted 18 May 2022 Posted 18 May 2022 If we do need an experienced winner then I'm fascinated whether we could get Witsel or Di Maria. Both play in key positions we need to strengthen. 2
Scotch Posted 18 May 2022 Posted 18 May 2022 CB Tarkowski - Free CB Bremer - £30m CDM Kamara - Free CM - Eriksen - Free LW - Lookman -£15m RW - No idea tbh FW - CDK - £30m Out.... Vesty - £10m? Amartey £5m? Soyncu - £25m? Bertrand - Free Hamza - £5m? Mendy - £5m? Praet - £15m? Youri - £30m? Nacho - £25m? Assuming we spent about £30m on a RW, that's a profit of about £15m. I know this is a very Football manager style rebuild and my numbers may be off/no guarantee could move those players on but talking in a purely "what I would realistically want" this is what I would go for. It doesn't really address the £90m shortfall that there apparently is but it would also with a positive net spend at least.
Fosse93 Posted 18 May 2022 Posted 18 May 2022 (edited) Would anyone take Moutinho from Wolves? Just noticed he's out of contract at the end of the season. Might be that older, more experienced head we desperately lack in the middle of the pitch. Would be a shrewd bit of business I feel. Edited 18 May 2022 by Fosse93 3

Witsel I would take and would be happy with. 1

An Away Move Posted 18 May 2022 Posted 18 May 2022 Have we played 3-4-1-2 this season? I think it could suit us and be a good formation option next year. Maddison makes so much happen in that 10 position. I’d like to see two strikers in front of him. We need more incision. That formation should help is defensively too. What personnel/new signings would suit it best?
Shane Posted 18 May 2022 Posted 18 May 2022 Couple of talented youngsters at Man City going into the last year of their contract: Luke Mbete (18, Left Footed CB) Romeo Lavia (18, Defensive Mid) Like Chelsea, they always sell a few youngsters every window. Man City’s academy is ridiculous, they have so much potential. 2
