Has our Lee gone to Atalanta yet? If so, has anybody heard rumours of likely incoming Recruitment Directors?

Not gone yet.

I spoke to Susan on Sunday and she said they were going to ask FT to take over the role.

apparently there will be a poll every day ….

Probably would’ve helped us avoid Vestergaard and Bert.

Maybe they should conduct an open poll every season where fans can choose how to spend £5m of transfer cash, now that’s fantasy football lol

I've been thinking about Our Lee and I wonder if this is a club decision that he's going or his own? Since he's been here the number of transfers in has been pretty low, he's probably very bored. We have seen a slow down in recruitment in youth players and 1st team players and although I do expect that to change significantly over the next few years, he might want out before then.

No great loss but he's certainly not been the heinous disaster we predicted.

Think @Chocolate Teapot suggested his contract was ending and we weren't going to be renewing it. So maybe a mutual parting of ways?

I think it’s a bit crazy that people put the blame for transfers on one person. These days in football the decisions are normally a group decision, unless you 1) have an ego maniac in charge of recruitment or 2) a manager demanding a certain person.

Other than that, there’s probably a large amount of people involved in any one signing. It’s easy to blame congerton for say Bertrand... but there were people who drew up a list with him on. People who analysed his stats. People who went to watch him. The head of recruitment deciding he’s the best option  The managers approval, then of course the DOF’s final say.

it’s a collective chuff up

Makes sense.  FT would probably make a better fist of recruitment.

We would have gone bust signing Trincao, Bailey and Maynard by now

Waiting for his visa before he buggers off. Hope we get someone in soon to start working on the summer rebuild asap

"Rodgers is also set to lose head of recruitment Lee Congerton to Atalanta when he receives his work visa, though Leicester do not anticipate any issues due to the club’s set-up."

Out of interest, what did we (the FT forum) agree as the 1st bid price for Maynard?

Bring back Macia

Could do a lot worse

Didn't someone allude to a Merseyside connection for the replacements? Gretar Steinsson and Dan Purdy left Everton last year.....

Both were Marcel Brands boys who left after he did so hopefully not with how bad they have been in the transfer market for a while now

Yeah not a glowing reference

Whoever we go for is likely either a failed ex DOF/Head of Recruitment or they'll likely have to be a highly regarded Head Scout as the issue we have is there's a DOF and a Head of Recruitment rather than a Sporting Director and Head Scout.

Italy's visa system must be a gridlock of beaurocracy

"The club’s current head of senior recruitment Lee Congerton is set to join Atalanta in Serie A when he receives his work visa, and Rodgers will be consulted over hiring a replacement."

It'll be Kasper and 10 attacking midfielders then ...

Even recent reports seemed to confirm the man is headed to Bergamo.  But this just in from Tanner in the Athletic

Rodgers believes that Leicester’s squad has become stale and is coming to the end of its natural cycle. He wants to add more hunger and ambition, while also improving the strength in depth at his disposal, which has been exposed this season by the number of injuries that key players have suffered.

Overlooking that summer of transition will be head of recruitment Lee Congerton, who joined the club with Rodgers and with whom he has a long association.
