It's a risk, but the sorts of risks we had to take back in 2018/19 and that we seem much better at doing than signing perceived proven players anyway.

I think it's a calculated risk that then further maximises our transfer funds elsewhere. If Ricardo wasn't signing a new deal it would be less plausible.

Don't remember us or any other club for that matter buying  an 18 year old and expecting them to play every week and replace a proven international.

We're scouting him every game. I think the expectation is Ricardo or Justin will play mostly but Thomas and Ramsay then rotate. I think it will happen but I'm regularly wrong.

You said first  Ramsay will be Timmys replacement? That suggests he's expected to play every game he's available as Timmy is clearly the first choice full back whatever side he's playing on??

In the sense that we'll sell Castagne and sign Ramsay. Whether Ramsay is 1st choice or Ricardo/Justin is would be debatable. To start with I'd expect not. But Castagne can't be relied upon anyway.

No doubts we are keeping an eye on him but we are certainly not the only club.

We have as much interest if not more in Ross Mccorie.

I'm not sure that Timmy is clearly first choice. I don't believe he'd play all that much with JJ and Ricardo available. Injuries have dictated who starts pretty much all season.

I like Castagne, but he's been very injury prone since he's been here. I don't think replacing him with someone who's available more often would be a bad idea, even if it's a promising young player.

The optimism expressed on money received for our players isn't backed up by our recent history. We have lost money on a number of players in the last few seasons . We should recover our spend on Tielemans , but on few others. Where is the demand for our players? We cannot let our core players leave while still contracted otherwise we will slip down the table fast. This process will have to be done with great care.

I'd say it's the opposite - we cannot afford to let core players leave on Bosmans. Selling the odd key player for a large fee has been crucial in getting us to where we are.

We might have lost money on some players, but it's been exclusively fringe players (unless I'm forgetting someone). I don't think there's anything unusual about that. We've made a huge profit on more or less every in-demand player we've sold, and that's allowed us to reinvest very well. If we start letting valuable players run their contracts down, we won't be able to cash in and then we won't be able to afford the replacements we need. That's what will cause a slip down the table.

Nothing suggests we'll sell Castagne.

As mich as I love Ricardo no way does he play before Timmy.

Timmy may not have hit the heights of last season but even off par he's head and shoulders in front if Ricardo since Ricardo's injury.

As much as it pains me to say it I highly doubt we will ever see the Ricardo of 2/3 years ago again at least not on a leicester shirt anyway. He miles off the player he was.

Castagne has been worse than Ricardo this season. To be honest I'm not sure why we are getting Ricardo on a new deal as I do have serious question marks over him long term but Castagne is made of glass an'all.

We got to the title without that method , the entire team was bought relatively cheaply. We have sold five players for big money and a lot more at a loss. The balance is still in our favour but has been slipping. Youri will yield no profit and he appears to be the only player with direct interest.

I’m unsure if any of castagne or Ricardo will be leaving in the summer. There was talks about Ricardo getting a new contract but seems to have stalled; maybe due to ongoing injuries.

Castagne is worth £20-£30m and would suit going back to one of the big boys in Italy. I don’t really rate him massively but he does offer utility in 4 positions so he’s got his uses.

the problem is we can’t really afford to keep a load of injury prone players (a lot of them through horror challenges but still seem to pick up hamstring injuries etc)

Ramsay probably would be a good buy option but still needs game time and perhaps it is too early for our first team but a loan out wouldn’t be out the question once buying him.

so do you sell one of them and bring in Ramsay/ another fullback as an understudy or do we keep them but loan him out after buying?

I really think you're overrating Castagne here. He has been bang average at best pretty much all season. Wasnt really noticed initially as enough other players were having absolute horror shows.

I don't think there is a particularly large gap between Ricardo's and Castagne's performances when they have played this season.

We sadly may never see peak Ricardo again, but his peak was better than anything we've ever seen from Castagne.

Grim if we have as much interest in McCrorie as Ramsay. McCrorie would be underwhelming compared to picking up Ramsay

I never disputed his peak. Read it again mate.

We were operating in a totally different market leading up to the title. Apart from Kante and Okazaki, the average fee for the first XI players was around £1m. It's not really relevant to our transfer business today. We're not going to be looking at buying the same sort of players today as we were back then.

I think it's probably pretty rare for clubs to make a profit on selling fringe players. That's to be expected. It's the few big money sales that have allowed us to strengthen multiple other areas each time. I don't think we're in a position to stop making these sales. They've been a huge source of income. If we're not making money on selling fringe players, then how do you replace the huge amount of money made on selling key players as we have done?

You're right about Youri - with one year left on his contract, we won't be making much, if any, profit. I think we still have to get what we can for him, though. I don't think we can afford to throw away £30m-40m when we need to bring a few players in.

He has. Zero goals, zero assists. Errors leading to goals. Passing stats, defensive stats and attacking stats off a cliff compared to last year. Ricardo has been better, but that's not saying much.

That was a general point

I was mainly addressing the comparison of levels this year.

There are a lot of comments about getting a new left back.  Thomas is pretty good and still developing.

I don't know if people saying we should get a new left back are commenting on Thomas. JJ can play either side and is right-footed, so if we need a full-back on either side, it might be a good idea to sign a left-back.

RB: JJ, Ricardo/Castagne

LB: Thomas, New LB
