Over the course of this season, it’s felt like a Crystal Palace type overhaul has been needed, no surprise to see Rodgers has stated pretty much that.

Palace got rid of 9 in the summer and signed 7.

Way our squad is looking, Tielemans leaving seems inevitable, I’d let Soyuncu go too.

Bertrand, Castagne, Vestergaard, Choudhury, Mendy, Praet & Perez, I could all see leaving in some way.

I wonder if any of the Development squad are in the picture for next year. We currently only have one U21 homegrown (Thomas).

It would be good to have 2-3.

Looking at the Dev squad and those we have out on loan I could only maybe see Iversen in the squad as 2nd choice but only if either of Kasper or Ward leave - and he will be 25 this summer anyway

Other than that I can’t really see anyone being brought through yet - most of the better Dev players currently are probably too young/need a season out on loan first

Maybe Nelson at a push? But probably still a bit too early for him, has still looked quite “raw” in under 23 games this season

The season 19/20 we conceded 41 goals , last season 50 goals   Did we improve?

Quite clearly, yes. We won a trophy last season and maintained the top 6.

There is some proper guff in this squad but I can't see us getting rid of Vestegaard, Bertrand and Perez all in one window.

Best we can hope for is loans where we pay a good chunk of their wages.

Its the steady deterioration of our defense that worries me , we are on course to concede 60 this season.

We've also not had a settled back four.

Defence is one of those areas that you want unchanged if possible.

Think of all the great defences, from Arsenal to Milan, and you can recall the players and partneships.

We've had too many injuries, which is more the worrying part, and not had a settled back four. Any team would concede more than usual if they were constantly having to make changes.

I raise you the LCFC 15/16 defence. Other than the first couple of weeks of the season; Simpson - Morgan - Huth - Fuchs, was about as settled as you come.

Exactly. Such a key area, probably the biggest area, to need to be settled.

Partneships are key are I think the back four are the most important.

Wouldn't we want a big fee for soyuncu? Can't see anybody coming in for him with the way he's playing. Newcastle paying 80 mill for him would be the dream

Don't get big fees for players with 1 year left on their deal.

I am not actually too worried about us rebuilding. I think that many players who we perceive to be important have underperformed for so long now - Soyuncu, Castagne, Ricardo etc.

Undeniably, the loss of Tielemans will be a massive loss but you’d hope that his sale & the departure of others will free up funds. If we invest that correctly and manage to send players like Perez, Bertrand and Choudhury on their way then we could both build a superior starting eleven and improve depth.

We have a very talented squad, players like Ndidi, Maddison, Barnes are all starting to fall under the classification of ‘experienced Premier League footballers.’ Furthermore, we have younger players like Thomas and KDH who are incredibly talented and very likely to progress in the future.

Regardless as to what happens, we will have a strong squad.

Ah I forgot about him only have a year left. Don't mind him going tbh, he's a car crash without Evans next to him

This and the fact that people are probably overestimating the likelihood of Newcastle massively overpaying for players. Players will want to join them (if they stay in the league) as money talks unfortunately.

He’s a car crash regardless I think. I’ve seen enough to convince me that he isn’t good enough - he really is making a career from six good months at this point.

Rodgers in charge of a major squad overhaul is a prospect that terrifies me. We could get rid of 10 underperforming, or just basically shit, players but we won’t bring in 6 or 7 vastly better players - we just won’t spend the money.

I seriously fear that next summer will cement our decline. However, it has been a fantastically enjoyable ride. Hay ho.

The overhaul could include Rodgers or amy number of his coaching staff for me.

Interesting congerton and now toure linked with moves away. Don't think it's just the players that'll be different next year.

Doesn't have a footballing brain I'm afraid so  yes car crash sums him up.

If it’s Congerton and Rodgers leading the overhaul I’ll be very concerned, I know Congerton was supposed to be leaving what happened with that?
