So this September I will be flying back to England for the first time in 5 years. It wasn’t supposed to be this long but Covid happened!

has anything changed? any new decent restaurants?

Fosse Park has been expanded, theres a brand new food hall there to go with the new shops and theres also the Everards Brewery across the road from it

Bring your bike and bus pass, well maybe not rely on busses. Lots of roadworks everywhere.

Lots of new pedestrian areas in town, development around the old Great Central Station and along the Canal, the Belgrave Flyover has gone.

oooh. Does it get really busy? Still?

You need to book Everards at least a week in advance. Turn up randomly and you won't get a table.

Lots of areas look a bit better. St Martin's is nicer and lots of Greyfriars has been touched up. Great Central Square looks great and there's been a fair amount of development along the riverside. St Magaret's is being redeveloped and the Adagio & Novotel hotels add massing to Vaughan Way.

The Metrobank frontage changes the look of the Haymarket, it's not really any better unfortunately.

If you want phone shops, pound shops, takeaway food, cash converters or nail bars the City centre is the place to go.

It’s a shame we can’t get all the old gang back together! Think they are scattered everywhere though :(
