Guy in front of us in L1 last night got an obsession with why the Roma fans were singing / chanting for Barcelona.

Even went on his phone to explore the rivalry until it was pointed out they were singing "Forza Roma"

There's no point falling out over this - wherever you sit, you'll have a different perspective on the noise made. I'm quite willing to believe that Roma were noisy, but I only ever heard them when they scored and after the match. SK1 were great.

Perhaps we can have a game of 'where were you sitting, then?'.

i thought the atmosphere was a lot better last night there was even a hard core of about 150 fans singing really loud on the way to the ground havent heard that for a long while, but for me the atmosphere will probably stay the same until the government allow safe standing ,the club can then designate a area of the ground, and then people who like to sit and watch the match will have to relocate to other areas of the ground,

Not related to the singing section but for such an important goal it looked on TV a really underwhelming goal celebration lol now, I hate all the 'limbs' rubbish and the over the top forced goal celebrations but it looked shite. I appreciate there were probably parts of the ground not shown on TV that celebrated with a bit more enthusiasm lol

Ok, that’s too reasonable, rational AND logical!!

I said it internally but I was so surprised when we got the message to say they had approved the section for this game. Fair play to the club with that.

Some real positives are coming through with that, WYS etc.

At this point I'll stop digging you out and fair play for writing this.

What I've always maintained is that the club do want to improve the atmosphere.

They don't get everything right but they do have to work with a diverse customer base - I don't really like clappers, goal music and sweet Caroline but you see thousands banging clappers and dancing away to this girl and they get loads of complaints from others when they move season ticket holders.

It's not perfect but there's been several moves this season that are really positive and I know someone involved who's genuinely worked tirelessly to try and get it better hence why ill defend them when some (not you specifically) throw mud at every decision (and sometimes small meaningless ones) the club make.

If last night didn't convince the club to bring the blue sash away kit back though I'll be disappointed with them.

Ironically was the most nuts I've seen my 66 yr old day go - which is pretty crazy considering the goals we've scored in recent years

All this we aren’t Napoli or Warsaw rubbish is exactly that, rubbish. There was literally 90% of the ground who sat down for the entire 90 and played zero part in actually supporting the players. It baffles me. A semi final in Europe.

In the section it was really good. IMO we should just keep trying to expand it along the kop, especially in cup games were there’s the opportunity. Get it into Sk2 as well for an early round cup game next season. Demand is clearly there. Club need to keep up the good work they did for this game.

I genuinely don't know what you're expecting, I don't think theres a ground in the UK where it is ever like that.

I sat in the West stand and I have to say last night it felt like a great atmosphere, lots more people joined in with the singing and chanting and not just for the first 10/15 minutes like usual it was throughout the game. I could hear both L1/K1 and SK1 from where I was and both kick started songs in our part. So I can't agree with your view that 90% of the ground played zero part - absolute rubbish.

I think it was solid. Not as good as Rennes but we were leading for a good chunk of that game which obviously helps gee up an English crowd. It was certainly better than it would have been without it.

Fair assessment.

The Roma goal cut the momentum, which was a shame, but the section ploughed on well. More of the same next season, please.

Was very surprised at how Roma's support completely died after our goal. They were statues for half an hour.

I thought the atmosphere last night was much better than it is for league games and sorry to say it, but I think the difference was down to the fact that many season ticket holders did not attend!

This is not a dig at older ST holders, many would consider me one!, but I cannot for the life of me understand why so many reserved ST seats were not taken up last night considering the importance of the match.

Whatever the reason, it resulted in an improved atmosphere with many fans, (several of my family and friends amoungst them) who can't get in otherwise.

It allowed more members and friends and casuals (I would guess mainly younger, fitter and more vocal) the opportunity to watch the City play in their first ever European semi final, rather than the early round cup games, which tends to be the only games they get a chance to watch live.

We can only hope that things will improve with the expansion allowing an influx of new blood into the crowd

Bye the way I loved WYS last night!

But Sweet Caroline - don't like it personally, but it did get people singing

I thought the same. I reckon I could watch a goal celebration with the sound on mute and pinpoint the precise millisecond when the goal music kicks in. It kills the atmosphere completely and needs ****ing off.

Thought it was great in the section last night, credit to the UFS lads, particularly the lad with curly hair who didn't watch a minute of the game but kept chants going all night. Home games are a 5 hour round trip for me so I rarely make it down, but if a section like that became permanent or more regular I'd definitely be making the trip more often!

Thats great on many levels but from a business point of view, the club will love to read that.
