He will not be here next year. He inspires no confidence. His performance in the cup wasn't great either. First goal was a worldie but miles out and he did not move. The game on Saturday went away from us in that horrendous spell after half time. Justin did not cover himself in glory either. If he chose to pick up the header to the back post he was no where near that either!

No other goalkeeper has been significantly responsible for a catastrophic relegation and causing such long term damage to the club. For this reason Ward is the worst keeper we’ve ever had.

That’s ok Rodgers, not Ward.

Player form goes up and down. He should have been dropped for the slightly better shot stopper Iversen. He also isn’t particularly great and treats the football like it needs to leave the pitch immediately.

What gets me is why aren't the players fuming with him or angry at him?

If I had someone work alongside me who constantly let the team down, cost us money and standing then I'd be raging.

He's incompetent.

Says about a lot about the guy that he was pushed into third choice by an academy product 7 or 8 years younger than him and he still didn't push for a move in the summer. If nothing else you'd think he'd be wanting to play regularly at a lower level to give himself the best chance of being picked for Wales. Yes he'll take a pay cut when he leaves here and no one likes to be paid less, but the way he's going there'll be no takers at all come the end of his contract.

It’s one thing I just can’t work out, the only thing he’s good at is saving pens, did the wales youth set up just have pen shootouts. Wank shot stopper, not particularly good with his feet, wank at claiming crosses etc despite being 6ft 3. There’s nothing about him that redeems him other than pens, I don’t have a clue how he’s got to the level he’s at

Tbf, he's got decent distribution.

I disagree with this. He’s got a family to take care of, and clearly he's not bothered about playing either. Last season he was on £40k/week, now it’s £50k/week.  Realistically, the offers he’d get would be from League One or lower, and these clubs wouldn't be offering him much more than £5k/week. Would you take a 10x pay cut at this or - any stage - of your career?

The only goalkeeper that comes to mind who accepted a significantly lower wage is Kasper Schmeichel, signing for Anderlecht on €5k/week purely because he wanted to keep playing football.

I get it, no one likes to earn less money than they're currently on. But it's a short career and he's already earnt enough to never work again if he doesn't want to. More importantly, with every season that goes by with him as third choice and coming in for the occassional calamitous performance, his stock drops further and his chance of a decent contract after leaving Leicester diminishes. You say he's clearly not bothered about playing, which is the point I was making.

In fairness to him he had next to no 1st team football, for 4 seasons at his peak age, before being thrown in as a PL no.1, it was never going to be ideal.

His contract can't end soon enough for him or us. A free transfer in January would be the perfect solution for all.

I can't stand this arguement. The guy has been earning between 20 and 50k a week for however long he's been with us. He's a bloody multi millionaire so unless he handles money like he handles a football his family should be well taken care of and would remain so even if he had to take a paltry 5k A WEEK on offer elsewhere. Once you reach a certain level of wealth it surely becomes about your desire to actually play the sport.

He is well within his rights to see out the contract that we decided to give him and I don't blame him at all for doing so. Some players really want to start games every week, some obviously aren't as bothered - it's their career and it's up to them to do what they want with it.

Make no mistake, I think he's an utterly shocking footballer and the thought of him starting another league game for us turns my stomach, but he didn't make us sign him and then give him a new contract just as he didn't make Rodgers and now seemingly Ruud choose him ahead of Iversen (who I also think is pretty shit but not quite to the same extent). If he'd rather spend a couple of years as our 3rd/4th choice on whatever insane wage we saw fit to offer him and make sure another generation or two of his family are financially set for life than go and play in League Two, fine by me.

I think he's probably on 40k a week and he'd have only been able to get clubs that would offer 10-15k. There's no way wherever he went he'd have improved his reputation to the level he'd ever get the same sort of money again. I think when players leave for less money it tends to be because they back themselves to get back to that level or higher.

This turd knows he's done after here. I doubt any Championship team goes for him.

I think managers get briefings from the admin on what's being said in the media and social media. I'd imagine Ruud is well aware of the strength of feeling about Ward's capabilities.

Which, you'd imagine, would make him want to check out if it's an overreaction or there's any truth to such strong feelings.

10 mins watching a goalkeeping drill should finally consign Ward to the bin. And if further confirmation needed, the video team with a highlights reel of 22/23 should be the tin lid on top of the nail in the coffin.

It is inconceivable that Ward will ever even be in the bench again

I can't see him being offered anywhere near that level of salary. League One's average wage sits around £7k (he's not getting Championship offers imo).

His credentials might outshine most players at that level, but any League One club considering making him one of their top earners would surely do their homework first. This isn't Saudi Arabia where money's thrown about carelessly.

I've watched a fair bit of League one (dad's side of the family are big Peterborough fans), I honestly don't think he's even up to that standard either.

It's been proved over the last few years that Ward's best chance of getting picked for Wales comes from him not being selected for his club.  Every time he has a prolonged spell on pitch he gets dropped by Wales.

He’s biggest challenge is that he doesn’t transcend from one side of his goal to the other quickly enough. Which makes his positioning look average at best.

His actual agility from a stationary position is okay really.

He won’t make saves where he has to move from the near post, so the far post and then dive.

Excellent goalkeepers do this.

Also people saying he’s the worst goalkeeper we’ve ever had either only started supporting us post title win, or can’t remember the days of Hamer, Ricardo, Douglas, or even Kalacs howlers against WBA!

I actually have been watching for a long time and I stand by my claim.

Although the others were dreadful,  they either played when we were utterly skint or didn't have a long time to establish themselves as our number 1.

Ward took the shirt off Kasper and , despite getting a really good run of games , has been a liability in pretty much every game he's played.

The money he's on is the clubs fault , no doubt,  but I hope his missus does all the banking stuff as he's incapable of saving anything.

I really hope I never see him represent us again.

He is a poor keeper and seeing Mads only emphasises this conclusion, but claiming he is at fault for our demise is utter denial.

Win or fail, football is a team game on and off the pitch, no one individual is ever fully to blame.

I'm not saying he's not within his rights. It's the argument that he or any multi millionaire footballer is doing something like this to secure their families future. They are already loaded beyond belief. It's just greed by this point. Same thing happens when a big 6 club buys a player and doubles their wages. People bang on about how it will secure their families future, you cant turn that down etc but it's already well secure by then. What it does is allow them to buy a new mansion or car a week or two quicker.

I think he might have had the most negative impact on our team I've ever seen one player have. That's mostly because of the nature of the goalkeeping position of course. We've had worse players at this level like Junior Lewis but I can't think of one guy who has so lowered our team's potential on his own.
