Not quite sure whether to laugh or cry at that...?!?

I hear exactly what you're saying and i dont disagree with you at all BUT.....if we're prepared to excuse our defence for being s**t, then why is everyone getting so hung up about our keeper being s**t as well...?? :D

Bit like NOT blaming Prince Andrew for being a NONCE just because there are even bigger Nonces out there...!

(PS I dont like to worry you BUT.......im not sure how much longer Hermansen is going to be with us as that boy is Quality?    What then...?!? )

lol I know what you mean

The evidence is there that regardless of how bad we look when Mads is in goal, the defence is even more disorganised and chaotic in his absense.

The beauty is, we're a Premier league team and there is talent out there, so replacing Mads isn't much of a concern for me. The people in charge of that job worry me, but I know it's not exactly a difficult task to find a keeper who's just competent at this level.

At the minute though, Ward is genuinely a worse option of all our senior keepers. If coaches can't see that, then it's fairly concerning. I've genuinely never seen someone at the top level who looks like they don't know the fundamentals of goalkeeping. His positioning is something you'd expect to see in step 9/10.

I can't remember him making very obvious clangers like dropping an easy cross or letting a tame shot trickle past him, but at the same time he can't stop shots at all. Basically he's really good at pretending to be a professional goalkeeper.

That's the thing though, the first goal he conceded at the weekend reminded me so much of that FA Cup game against them lot when he come in for Kasper. At the time we all said Ward wasn't to blame because we didn't know enough about him.

It's no coincidence. Absolutely zero awareness, commanding of the box, positional sense, organisation of his defenders. It just all goes to shit.

still remember the season we went down the ironic cheers when he actually caught a cross

I don't think he's overly bothered, he will be a Scott Carson type keeper for rest of his career probably, but you'd have to be pretty think skinned if you are Ward. Whether he plays or not. He plays and he'll be abused, he doesn't play and someone like Jakub has come from being injured for ages to play ahead of you. Can't be good for confidence.

He'd probably be ok in the championship, elite level strikers will get shots past him more often than not, champ strikers don't have the technique or composure.

When your positioning is as bad as his, you dont need to be anywhere near elite to get shots past him

It’s astonishing he is a professional. A shot a ft to either side of him or above him = goal.

oh and on the floor it will go through his legs.

he has been allowed steal x millions in wages from us.

Rodger’s and rudkin again total responsibility for shite recruitment.

we paid 12million!!!

Watched the highlights last night. He seems to have a weakness where he struggles to transition from near post covering to the far post when the ball goes over or past him, leaving most of the goal open and to aim for.

By all accounts he didn't look comfortable when he was being brought on. On a human level, i do feel for him. And as has been said before on this thread, he has come across in the occasional interview as a nice fella.

Doesn't matter how much you earn, your confidence and self esteem are gonna be pretty bruised knowing you aren't up to it and knowing that colleagues and supporters know that too. It's imposter syndrome on steroids.

No sympathy from me. He has a choice, stay milking his contract and what comes with that (actually having to play and be shown as not up to it and an imposter) or he could have sought a move to a lower league, reduced his wage demands and played regularly at a level he might be cut out for.

I know people say ‘it’s not his fault he was signed for that much and given the contract extension’ and no it isn’t. But he is the one who can do something about it. He isn’t held captive at the club.

He’s biggest challenge is that he doesn’t transcend from one side of his goal to the other quickly enough. Which makes his positioning look average at best.

His actual agility from a stationary position is okay really.

He won’t make saves where he has to move from the near post, so the far post and then dive.

Excellent goalkeepers do this.

Also people saying he’s the worst goalkeeper we’ve ever had either only started supporting us post title win, or can’t remember the days of Hamer, Ricardo, Douglas, or even Kalacs howlers against WBA!

Anyone that thinks Ward is horrendous.

Watch Kalac in this …

Filbert Street pitch looks okay here!

Parker was a very good player for the level we were at then.

I think this may have been Kaamarks 2nd game as well.

He doesn't anticipate people taking strikes at his goal and he does not anticipate danger.

Couple this with the fact that he does not move his feet properly and the goal is suddenly twice as big with this twonk between the sticks.

Seriously I packed in playing in goal 30 years ago but I would still classify myself as a better goalkeeper than Ward.

The fact he's made a big living in the game defines belief to me.

If he starts on Sunday Ruud will go down hugely in my estimations.
