Jamie Vardy’s magic?

That's a rehashed version of a Kevin Ball ( Sunderland) song.

Might have been one even earlier than that to the My Old Man's a Dustman song

I would say ‘Ewan is a Welshman’ is a more recognisable version of the song than anything the mackems ever sang?

Son will probably catch him so he's likely to need to retire at #9 to stay at #10 for a while. So that's 164, 22 more.

Could do it if we stay up and he stays. Otherwise, no.

I'll be happy if he just overtakes Michael "Vardy's Not A Natural Finisher" Owen which will take another 9, still a bit hard this year.

It's interesting how he's totally dispelled some of the tags thrown at him.

One season wonder

Not a natural finisher

Pace merchant

No all round game

It was probably only from 17-18 onwards he was taken seriously as deadly striker but even then there were reservations about him. People still scoffed at the idea of him being effective for a 'big club'. He's a footballing legend and phenomenon not just our legend.

Much like wider journalism, sports journalism has been so discredited over the years with a name over substance approach on punditry and quantity over quality with the advent of clickbait and ‘fast news’, and that’s just exacerbated by the alternative provided being teenagers on TikTok with the loudest, most outrageous brain rot they can game the algorithm with, or professional contrarians spewing a minute of unsupported nonsense.

It’s the KSI FIFA revisionism writ-large, Vardy is just a better regarded example of the treatment Heskey got 12 or 13 years ago.

That's extreme, he's never been a laughing stock like Heskey was.

I think It's probably just his personality that feeds into his perception as a footballer. Chugging back redbulls, leaving his foot and chopping down rainbow corner flags in doesn't go hand in hand with being an extremely precise, technical player. Now he's adored by probably 70% of the media and fans. The other 30% are incorrigible bores that probably otherwise moan about footballers lacking personality these days.

Michael Owen is a complete bungalow. His comments about concussion a couple of years ago confirmed that. Never mind what clueless garbage he has spewed about Vardy.

A great examples of how someone can play at the highest level and still add nothing to football in any shape or form after their active career.

From legend to leg-end...

The whole Wagatha saga hasn't really helped Vardy with the 1/4 of journalists / pundits that don't include him amongst the top ever premier league strikers.

I’d argue it’s possibly fuelled him the last few years!

Every away fan chanting ‘Your wife’s a grass’ I swear has made him even more desperate to have a go at them!

maybe a bit from a playing perspective. but the fact that a large chunk of the media, and a massive number of those on social media all dislike his mrs will limit his post playing career massively. people will think twice about having him involved which is really unfortunate considering what a legend he is. You can see him going America or the Middle East when in reality he could clean up on the podcast, punditry circuit or as a proper tracksuit manager.

Or some kind of between two ferns inspired YouTube sports interview series…

Two more PL goals to overtake Van Persie

Four more to overtake Sheringham

Seven more to overtake Sir Les

And eight more to overtake gobshite Michael Owen into 11th of all time PL scorers

15 games to go this season....

Always surprised Sheringham has that many as he was never that prolific, but I guess the longevity helps.
