I need another option.

He could score 21 more... just if he keeps injury free. But it may not get him in the top 10 (for long).

Lukaku is only 9 behind.

Salah is only 11 behind (1/2 a season).

Mané is only 20 behind.

If any of those stay in the Prem for 2/3 more seasons they'll definitely overtake Vardy pretty quickly.

Not so fussed about that, just want him to pass that nonsense waffler Owen

In 235 PL minutes since he return at Burnley he's scored 3 and assisted 1 considering he has had to comeback from a hamstring and a knee injury and is more then likely not match fit that is impressive.

He's game has changed as his lost pace, his now quick over 10-20 yards rather then 50 yards, and more of a fox in the box.

If he says fit and we create chances he will get around 15-20 goals next season.

Its going to be close, I'd say he need to get a couple more this season to give himself a decent chance

I've said yes even though I think no, because this is Vardy and he is magical.

I do think we need to stop looking for a replacement like him, though, the Patson Dakas and Ahmed Musas of the world, because very few are like him. Would rather we got a more target man type that would score less but bring the likes of Harveh and Madduhs into the game more. it would actually probably suit our possession style more too.

Vardy has only scored one fewer goals than Kane, 12 v 13, having played 12 less games, 22 v 34.

This season he's scored 0.69 goals per game. At the same rate he scores 26 goals in 38 games. If he plays 38 games over  the next 2 seasons and scores at this rate he moves to 155 goals by the end of the 23/24 season aged 37.5 even with minor injuries.

Question is, is Vardy the Premier leagues top ever goalscorer past 30 years old? I thought he was close or he might already be

Yeah he went past it during the Brentford game.

As much as I want him to surpass Mr Owen, I would prefer he takes a break from now and give more chance for Daka to settle in, albeit only 3 games.

I repeat earlier assertions that he need only play 3 or 4 games a month and even 45 mins with 5 subs. Perhaps this culture of  making changes at 60 minutes and rarely at half time will change?

the thing is...... does he want to play 2 or 3 more years here?

Hook with Fuchs and play infront of 40000 to 70000 crowds at Charlotte  and yankify for his Rochester project?

I am sure he will look a treat hosting MLS MOTD in a baseball cap too.

Fuchs could be Mark Lawrenson

I'd be amazed if he doesn't have this as a personal aim to achieve, and for that reason, I think he will, his presence alone brings joy to the fans, confidence to the team, and upsets defenders.

Good call.

I voted yes but on the basis he "could" do it, will he do it for sure, dont know.  Probably will need to having no more than a few minor 1-3 week injuries.  Vardy is still our striker who teams fear the most which says a lot, but retirement decline in football happens rapidly when it happens, I dont think its happened yet.

Top strikers are lasting longer and longer in the modern game though tbf.

And Vardy has clearly changed his game to be far less about his pace and much more about his movement in the past couple of seasons, so I think he could still be an outstanding goal poacher for 2 or 3 seasons yet.

We really do need a proper song for Vardy that actually showcases his complete legend status at the club.

Needs to include some of his memorable moments

Mate. Absolutely all the stats disagree with you.

We were the 4th top scorers in the league when Vardy got injured and they dried up as soon as he got injured. We were down in mid table because our defence was crap not because of our attack.

Vardy doesn’t need to terrorise defenders in that way. We’ve created and scored more than enough goals to be where we were last season whenever he’s played. We are objectively a far better side when he plays.

And you’re absolutely nuts championing Abraham based on one game. Abraham showed for years he isn’t a very good PL player, certainly a far far inferior one to Vardy. You’re being blinded by the same Serie A tax that Lukaku and Marko Aurnotovic (who has 1 less Serie A goal than Abraham this season has). Abraham is a Championship forward living off that run of about 10 Chelsea games 3 or 4 years ago.

Except he was a proper handful in both games.

He looked a different player than the one who left the Prem. Not just ability-wise - he seemed supremely confident (with reason!) in his own capabilities. He was in that lovely zone where not only did he not put a foot wrong, but he consistently turned situations into better outcomes that looked initially likely. It was as though player who has always had the necessary physical assets has seen them 'snap into focus'. Have to say I was very impressed.

Not going to argue about him vs. Vardy, but I think the Championship forward comment is a bit silly, and conveniently ignores what you also saw in those two games, and the possibility he's just plain go a lot better.

It’s a testament to Vardy’s intelligence, movement and skill that he’s still scoring goals at this level, but I’ve also seen him out run and out muscled by defenders that couldn’t do either a while back. He’s too old to play up front on his own. I’ll use the Abraham analogy again. Look how he terrorised us on his own up front. Vardy used to do that to an opposition. As a team we need more up front to benefit the whole. Look at the 2015-16 dvd to see how much Vardy, for all his continued brilliance, is a shadow of what he was. It’s time to phase in the new.

I find it amusing...Whether people write opinions on Vardy's Demise or longetivity, Show they just dont understand & grasp the Vardy-story..

Many false comparison to his Early periods, Silly points on pace & what life's passing of time has forced on his Football ability...

He was often underrated on Creation on direct & indirect assists, he had/has an eye playIng in his teammates from the flank or secondary channels, his play was

Never just about scoring. but more about his alround underrated dynamic.

IMO Still at 35 und over the past years even some of his own fans ,have never seen or even now understand his various dimensions & dynamic..

Thats make him the Unique exception that he his....like a Good Mature fox...Pretend to be dumb,  Chase around & irritate the chickens,

but cleverly still leave confused, baying hounds slobbering all over the park...!!

Plus gobsmacked farmer-fans quizzingly again for the right answers & analyse.

By Vardy...Dont try to look for that, what isn t there..!!

i dont mind these players being above JV, but as long as he outscores that little turd Owen

"not a natural finisher" indeed...
