Leicester City make initial contact for signing – Foxes can get player for €10-12m

Leicester City are keeping tabs on Empoli’s Kristjan Asllani, according to Calciomercato.it.

Brendan Rodgers’ side are ‘grappling with the need’ to bring in a new midfielder, that could ‘soon become urgent’, to replace Youri Tielemans.

The Belgium international’s contract runs until 2023 and he’s refused to sign a new deal at Leicester City, looking for a move away from the King Power Stadium.

This has seen the Foxes look at the market for a player in the middle of the pitch. They have been ‘very attentive’ to young players in Italy, and this includes Asllani.

It’s said Leicester City have carried out polls, so made contact, for the Albania U21 international, who rose through the ranks of the Serie A side’s academy and made it to their first team in 2021.

He featured 34 times in the recently concluded season, managing a goal and four assists in the process.

Asllani operated mainly as a defensive midfielder but has been used in the middle and as an attacking midfielder. His manager, Aurelio Andreazzoli, has backed him to have a successful career in the future.

“He is a young boy, he has just finished drinking milk. We have to leave him alone, but he has all the advantages to become an important player,”Andreazzoli said.

Tielemans could leave Leicester, and therefore the English club are monitoring Asllani. The latter’s ‘price is affordable’, around €10-12m.

The Foxes are not alone as Inter Milan are also interested in the Albanian, and seem to be ahead of others in the transfer chase.

...just watched the YouTube reel and pretty sleep inducing!!!

Very workmanlike, looks very league 2 and absolutely nothing in his game that you would wish to pay money for and come and watch.

He sounds perfect!

This is how most of our windows go. Linked to shit loads of players with the ropey translations “Leicester foxes make initial desperate contact to sign wonderkid playmaker”.

And then we just sign folk we were linked to a year ago.

Should fit in nicely to Rodgers philosophy then?

Even though deals like this are slipping away from our grasp, what's encouraging is that we're identifying talent that top teams around Europe are also willing to take a gamble on.

As much as they try, the big clubs can't hoover up all of the talent. We'll pick up some good players that, for whatever reason, they aren't able to complete deals for.

I know a lot is made of what is or isn't a Rodgers signing, but our recruitment team are consistently spotting serious talent. If we let them do their thing, we'll keep sticking it to the moneyed clubs in our division.
