I'd say Martin O'Neill by the same line of thought.

Was linked with us pretty heavily after Pearson left but we got Ranieri in instead. Again, it wasn't the same MON from the 90s and the game had left him behind by that point, likely would've only tarnished his reputation here.

Think Top was quite keen to bring Martin back for years he tried to get him in 2011 to replace Sven, but Martin didn't fancy it. Tried again as you mentioned in 2015 to replace Pearson, but he was involved with the Republic of Ireland job.

Martin would have won the league quicker and with more points than Ranieri.Never a massive fan of him myself though.

O'Neill was infamous at Sunderland for being about the only manager in the PL who didn't use the data technology that was making its name at the time (sportzone?) He was a great motivator and man manager of old school type players, but he never believed in sports science or stats or data analysis or that kind of thing and in fact actively stood against it.

I don't think he'd have won the league, in fact I's worry that he probably would've torn apart all the sports science and data analysis infrastructure Pearson had put in place, it's ultimately why the game ended up leaving O'Neill behind I think.

Ranieri was also very old school and sacked the sports psychologist very early.

This was about getting the best out of a bunch of journeymen players at a opportunist period.

Along with world class of Vardy , Mahrrz and Kante.

He left our sports science team alone though and left the clubs dietry and training regimes alone too, at least in 2015-16.

I don't feel like O'Neill was like that, at all, he had a very fixed idea of how things should be and was very much my way or the highway,

All theoretical of course, but I extremely highly doubt we would've got more than 81pts under O'Neill that season.

another foxestalk legend… Jimmy Kebe

I remember we were all frothing that we had signed him on deadline day (i think it was under sven) for around 5m

if reading had got us with him and Mills i would have never forgiven them

Although i’m not sure the bullet was dodged as we ended up signing beckford instead

Didn’t Reading end up winning the Chsmpionship that season with Kebe being one of their star players though?

I don’t think that was a bullet dodged, Kebe was a quality player at Championship level. Just never really made the step up

Nobody is allowed to talk about it. Guilty

Lad I work with supports Everton. Apparently he got involved with a girl who was much younger than she said. It then moved onto blackmail and it was him who went to the police “allegedly”

It's pronounced "Lee Cattermole".

That fench guy that ended up going to Villa, I forget his name now but I think it was either him or Kante we was gonna sign. Could've been a different story

Did we dodge a bullet?

Or did he miss out on a premier league title 😂😂😂😂😂

He's been pretty good for Lazio this season

Yeah, I realise that. Six goals and eight assists, but was very disappointing in his second season at the Hammers, from memory, sustained a back injury and failed to make an impact at Porto. It likely wouldn't have been a great signing here either and he certainly wouldn't have been with us now.

We only dodged a bullet if it was a choice between him and Kante

Deeney might be the biggest one, weren't we wanting him for 30 million when we were league champions

The fee was outrageous but still think he would have been a good signing at the time. We were crying out for an old-fashioned bully up front and I think he would have linked up well with Vardy
