Although it is all hearsay and gossip, we do seem to have got ourselves in a right pickle...

Sorry fella,but I totally disagree...

This is typical FT rolling bullshit..

Because business isn't running according to maverick thoughts & ideas of those fans desperate to see movement on player transfers..does not mean..the club is having any major issues or problems that shows the club are in transfer- desperation-meltdown...

It's the shaky, always panicking fans that are spreading the Branston & piccalilly, & so desperate they can't get the top off the pickled onions .

Some love to sour our ploughman's Lunch, forgetting like the Stilton hidden under the salad,we still have a red-cabbage & beetroot twist supported by the  sturdy

Porkpie tackling that mustard awaited zing to our up ,& coming seasoning..

Too many worrying over, being left with only the gurkin & panic while not knowing which salad dressing choice we are left with...& so scared we might miss out on the hot garlic bread..

Some have it even worse & believe even if we get out of the pickle...we will be...

Barbecued anyway..

I can see you answered that with relish.

Thats why I said it hearsay and gossip, I even said seems, so further use of vague synonyms seemed a little unnecessary!

But for reference, I am very much in the que sera sera camp, and trust those in a far better position of both knowledge and power to therefore make better decisions.

What I meant by a bit of pickle was, that we have been a longstanding member of this farcical money drenched league, and that duration might be catching up with us, such to the point where incremental wages, costs, etc over this duration may mean we need to cut our cloth accordingly, and seeing as we are not owned by an owner who lives for short term glory, they do not operate too far outside of self-sustainability, and thank goodness!

I kind of followed, think I partially agree, and enjoyed trying to follow the analogy through to conclusion 🤣👏🏻👏🏻

46 starts and 12 league goals in 3 seasons for £30m. Even in his most productive season (19/20) his goals were distributed in a way which really didn't achieve much, even the meaningful contributions were against dross.

3 vs Southampton A, 2-0 already when he scored his first.

2 vs West ham H, 2-1 up when he scored his first

1 vs Brighton A, he scored the first goal here

1 vs Sheff Utd H, scored the opener

1 vs Newcastle A, scored the opener

The opportunity cost of that £30m is huge as well, who could we have signed instead? It's obvious he was never a conventional winger - at best he was going to be a 10 goals a season, 5 assists hardworking inside forward and even that hasn't materialised.

Let's say conservatively he's on 60k p/w, with his fee he's cost us around £40m in total so far.

If we can recoup c. £10m and get his wages off the books (he's more likely to be on £80-90k p/w imo) then we'll have done well. Another year of paying his wages (on loan or otherwise) whilst his contract expires next year actively harms us. Any settling for less than this shot a rhombic lack of ambition.

The bottom bit is the key point for me, his numbers were crap and even when he did something it was usually when a game was already won against crap sides.

He needs to go for his own good.

He'll only end up warming the bench next season, if he's lucky.

Maybe he's happy with that on his salary.:(

Please let him go.

I could see the logic in signing him when he came in. Like you say, an inside forward who can get goals at the back post from Barnes and Chilwell deliveries and is tidy around the box when the balls on the right side. Turns out he was just desperately shite.

Bloody hell, imagine if we sold him for that! 😂

There's no way that's right. I was going to say Betis couldn't afford that, but they were signing a few £20m+ players a couple of years ago.

Figure includes wages?

*Still about £ 20 mill too high!

He’s only got a year left so that’s max £4m

no way are getting more than £12m for him unless he has an extra year option that we could invoke

I'm talking about to them.  Some publications quote the full cost of transfer fee plus wages for the contract duration to show the full cost of the transfer.
