The encroachment happens only if they interfere after the fact, he just hit the post and it flew off miles away. It's ridiculous.

How they’ve done that would mean all a defender would have to do is put his foot in the box if the goalie went the wrong way and the goal would be disallowed because of encroachment

It's literally not how the rule is meant to work, it's completely absurd.

I'm not being funny but that's actual corruption. The handball was clearly not a handball either, the hands are down by his sides ffs.

He had time to move his hands. Nothing dodgy about that pen decision

He actually said that too lol

Please say he did! I missed the bit where they went to him, but I've seen the decision and people mocking him.

Genuine question here; we don't count the D of the box to be in the box for fouls or keeper handling the ball. So why does it get counted for encroaching on a penalty?

Because that's exactly what it's there for? The "D" is exactly 10 yards from the penalty spot, the minimum distance another player is allowed to be from the kick taker.

Because isn't the whole point of the D to measure yardage from the penalty spot?

Honestly no clue, hence asking the question. I'd seen in the rules players had to remain outside it prior to the penalty being taken but was unsure as to why.
