I'd have thought the only requirements to not be on FAN CAM is to A) be over the age of about 12 and B) not wear any club clobber.

Great news on the clappers. We criticise this club sometimes (despite the fact we're ungrateful bastards from the KPFC crew) but this is most welcome. They served their purpose and were part of our golden era. I'm sure they might return for the odd game, but glad their permanence has been laid to rest.

Am I not righting in thinking clappers will be back for Southampton? Thought it was just because they've put flags out instead for this game.

They just need to swap it to collect one from the concourse if you want one. I guarantee most wouldn't bother after a few games.

Never understand the hate for the clappers if you didn't want to use them don't no one was making you. It was a good way for people who are usually quiet to make a lot of noise and also a nice souvenir to take home from the game.

It's a bit of mixed messaging. Initially it says flags instead of clappers for this game which could be interpreted as for one game only or that there will be other replacements for clappers at the next games. This bit seems to hint at the fact that clappers are being removed from all fixtures with alternatives (and maybe 2/3 games a season with clappers):

"Fans attending games will also notice that there will be no clap banners, as the Club works with the feedback given to it by supporters during consultations to shape a move towards alternative and more sustainable ways of improving the matchday atmosphere."

One of the big issues with it was the fact that it costs x amount of money for every home game to produce and lay out and it is made from materials that are not the most eco friendly.

Of course, some people just can't stand the noise either. Not a big fan but I think it should not be on every seat. Grown adults are more than capable of clapping. I think they are great for kids though.

As suggested a few times by various people, a collection point or Family Stand only approach would be good. GIves people the choice and prevents litter.

I do get this argument and it makes a lot of sense on that front. But some people just seemed to hate the idea of them at all and I never understood it no one was forcing people to use them

It may be totally irrational but I absolutely despise them lol

I find the irritating tinny noise they make akin to nails on a blackboard and plus they drown out any other noise.

Missed the Roma game due to illness and it was one of the first home games i missed that i was able to watch on tv in full for a while and couldn’t believe how overwhelming the sound of the clappers was, felt like the 2010 world cup and the Vuvuzelas.

I’m so glad it’s finally over :worship:

Makes it sound like we did something terrible!

It'll take years for opposition fans to stop calling us happy clappers.

THIS IS OUTRAEGOUS.

I, FOR ONE WILL BE MAKING MY OWN CLAPPER OUT OF CEREAL BOXES AND BRINIGING IT TO THE GROUND.

I HAVE A WEAK VOICE SO I MUCH PREFER TO CLAP CARDBOAD THAN MAKE VOCAL SOUNDS.

CAN'T SEE FOFANA STAYING AFTER THIS REVELATION...

For the record, making it known that black lives matter isn't politics - it's humanity.

Of course Black Lives Matter. Maybe the premier league are making way for whatever next is ‘the current thing'. ;)
