That must currently be the greenest lawn in all of England.  :appl:

Considering all i have been doing is regularly cutting it, regularly watering it (not even daily), i am pleased with it's colour.

I have been applying something called 'Green Keepers Secret' from Envii or something similar but i haven't followed any schedule, just as and when i remember at random intervals. I think that must have done the world of good regarding the colour.

I could never have a lawn like that or even try to achieve one for me lawns in gardens are for playing on especially if you have kids not for admiring. Flowers provide that for me. But good luck with it if that's your thing.

Sounds a bit dodgy, a bit like a Fisherman’s Friend or Chef’s Special Sauce. Nice lawn though.

Been quoted £1k for a whole new lawn makeover. Grass is totally dead and the foundations in some part are quite weak.

Not sure whether to fork that out and get it redone, or have the garden totally redone anyway (more or new paving slabs) and just basically freshen it up as a whole. Grass area is about 25m squared, so unsure of that cost yet.

@adejo92 if mine ends up looking like that I'll be happy :D

Does anyone opt for artificial grass? Initial high cost (?) but very low maintenance otherwise...?

Isn't it unsafe in hot weather ?.

If you've got kids, forget about a nice lawn!!

I have a two year old so quite limited to how much damage she can cause yet!

That said, she's had her swimming pool on it throughout all the hot weather, the parasols stand, and a small trampoline. And its faired okay.

I'd say dogs are the no.1 lawn destroyer but I don't have one of those!

My friend is well into lawns and I'd mentioned that I'd quite like artificial as I cba with the maintenance of my lawn. He said forget it, it'd render the garden out of bounds for my dog on hot days (e.g. an actual lawn on a hot day tends to stay around 35-40°c, artificial lawns can reach upwards of 65°c)

Like everything now, landscaping comes at a considerable cost so £1k is likely more than reasonable depending on the size of your lawn.

I think artificial grass is becoming more and more popular however it seems to be a real case of you get what you pay for it terms of how real you want it to actually look.

I guess its great if you don't have the time / interest in maintaining a grass lawn as other than removing debris such as leaves, and giving it the odd brush and clean, it's really hassle free.

Replacing 25Msq lawn alone would soon add up in cost as you would need skips, tool hire / purchase, turf or seed before you even consider the blood sweat and tears and the upkeep afterwards.

I've seen some very nice gardens with artificial lawn so I guess it's just personal preference but yeah, your main cost would be the initial install.

Do you have a dog ? If so dont do it. They will either rip it up or it will end up stinking.

Also there is a lot of call to get it band as its really bad for the environment in how its made and obviously the effects on the insects etc. Plus its holds all the heat in so can hardly stand on it in the summer.

It would cost you a lot more than 1K as well for a decent one you're probably looking 3-5k that size.

Thanks for the info.

Thankfully no dog, and don't ever plan to get one! Didn't know it was that bad for the environment. Never really thought of it that much.

Is there anything green about plastic grass? - https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-61552315

Campaigners call for artificial grass tax - https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/av/uk-62471230

Seemingly not that good for the environment.

My 'lawn' is more dandelions like grass. The Bees love it.

I have artificial lawn in the back. The old owners put it in. Love it. Never have to cut it obvs just sweep it once a week (more in autumn). Loads of weeds, ivy, grass and bugs etc come through but if you keep on top of it it’s not too much of a nuisance.

Mine is generally OK - but I have a few patches where the grass just went brown and died, and won't seem to come back despite trying to reseed a few times - It's watered twice a day. Any ideas?
