Finnegan Posted 30 August 2022 Posted 30 August 2022 In fairness, Man City and ourselves want different things from a centre back. Akanji's poor reputation is based on his habit of committing defensive howlers. He's incredibly error prone and unreliable and has been part of a hilariously leaky era at Dortmund. He would be a complete disaster for us. But so would John Stones for the exact same reasons yet he's a fixture for Pep because he can play with the ball at his feet and Man City are so dominant in possession that they need less defensively from a CB. Akanji is athletic and can recover well playing their high line and his pass completion stats are decent. That's what they look for in a defender. 4
kingfox Posted 30 August 2022 Posted 30 August 2022 Fingers crossed he turns out to be the second coming of Eliaquim Mangala.
AKCJ Posted 30 August 2022 Posted 30 August 2022 He's nowhere near as bad as people make out, he's just not the right player for us. 3
orangecity23 Posted 30 August 2022 Posted 30 August 2022 Any Man City defender also has a low probability of having to do much defending as there is a high chance an opposition counter attack has already been cut off 10 yards into their half by Rodri performing one of the 956 gbh attempts he gets away with every week before the ref starts to ponder whether he should have a small word with him, or maybe produce a yellow card in second half stoppage time if he's feeling adventurous.

FosseSpark Posted 30 August 2022 Posted 30 August 2022 We will be signing Manuel from Fawlty Towers at this rate. We are like a desperate, pissed yuth at 10 to 2 running round the club when all his mates have copped off. 1

Tielemans63 Posted 30 August 2022 Posted 30 August 2022 Man City paying £17m for their 11th choice CB. Bit of an insult really.
Number 6 Posted 31 August 2022 Posted 31 August 2022 Was thinking Man City had lost the plot with the Grealish signing last summer but they've done very smart business this summer. Including those they've got rid of.
coolhandfox Posted 1 September 2022 Posted 1 September 2022 Foxestalk scouts said he was crap just as he signs for the best team in the league 2 2
FoxesWalk Posted 1 September 2022 Posted 1 September 2022 Just now, coolhandfox said: Foxestalk scouts said he was crap just as he signs for the best team in the league I got laughed at for saying German league watching mates say he is better than Lacroix…

Takes us days to complete them, for that reason alone I reckon we’re literally gonna have one signing today MAX. Edited 1 September 2022 by StarkFox 1
