I’m confused now …. I’m not very good at reading Italian …. Has Praet covered himself in fish paste or tuna and will he have a bath prior to the window slamming shut??

What are you talking about? Praet is one of few who can play right midfield, a position we want a player for, so why would we let Praet go until it is confirmed a replacement is confirmed?

He's played wide right for us a grand total of about twice so where's this notion he can play wide right for us come from?

I recall him playing right side midfield a couple of seasons ago when we were decimated by injuries ???

Because he can play there and has in the past, both RW or RM, both here and at Anderlecht, but never at Sampdoria. Admittedly it’s only been about 20 times in total. lol

Made 4 appearances (including last week) on the right for us since he's been here. 🙃

Hahahahaa, I've always wondered why we didn't play him there but he just doesn't seem to make an impact here at all. Given everyone seems to think we are snookered financially just get rid of these players who make no impact for whatever we can get.

Maybe they owners know Rodgers is going to get the axe and realize that he's the problem here, and under a new manager Praet would be a valuable asset.  Obviously they can't tell him that but it might impact their willingness to sell him cheap.

Maybe.

Or,

maybe he’s still bang average and it’s nothing to do with Rogers, opportunities, his wife, a fall out, the way he treated another Belgian…

🤣

You'd assume if he is leaving then he'd be on a plane to Italy already, if not already there. Surely someone has spotted him

Really weird what the club have been saying and doing. We apparently have no money but have been arguing over a couple of million, over deals for Praet and Soumare, whilst quite happily paying them about 150K/week. We then sell Fofana for 75M, when rumours were, we were looking for more then the 85M Utd paid for Maguire. We apparently want 30-40M for Youri, which seems excessive given he can walk away for free in about 9 months.

It’s quite sad that we cannot believe anything we read, regardless of the source- the act of speaking/reporting/tweeting has become more important than the information being relayed.  :(

How many times do we have to say the same thing

there is money but not squad space or FFP space

the board know we needed to trim the squad and no one would be fire sold but similarly no one met our asking price !

hence I would also guess that the owner has probably lost faith in BR and his self PR campaign which I am sure will not line with the culture or values hence he will be fired soon I reckon !

but we can’t put more wages in than less players go !!

Well, that suits your narrative, obviously.  But my notion fits with the evidence of them not giving Soyuncu away either.  Why keep them around knowing they're in exile?

It works like this, if as a player during training you doesn’t show the aptitude or the performances necessary, then you don’t get in the team.

Also, if you don’t get in the side it’s less likely another club will pay decent money for you. This ‘valuable asset’ you talk of. There’s no real evidence of it on the pitch and there’s been no offers over 8 million euros.

Instead - you say I have a narrative. I have what I see based on all his performances. You have however strange stories in your head that are unsubstantiated, and invented in a Karl Pilkington esque way to join up dots to fit a picture that suits your narrative that Praet is some kind of world beater and it’s the world of Brendan Rogers that’s against him. It’s truly bizarre. Try and separate how you feel about different issues rather than linking them all together like a Jack-a-bleeding-nory purveyor of Leicester dressing room drama when it may be just that he’s getting low-ball offers from a club like Torino and nobody else for a really obvious reason buddy… He ain’t all that, sadly.

Edit: I’d agree that Soyunco has the potential to thrive and regain confidence and potentially be a starter again under a different manager.

I wouldn’t agree that in relation to Praet.

Also, I’m not sure either that Brendan will last the week or the month.

Utterly appalled at the way he's been treated. If he was embedded into the squad over recent years he couldve played a part in the difficult year ahead. I'm not saying he's what we need, but we haven't used his potential at all.

He didn't want to be a squad player.

My impression was that he did, but BR refused to play him in his natural position? I remember it getting heated in one match when they were both giving off. BR does have a habit of doing that and has played Cags out of position too and then seems to become frustrated when he gives the ball away when playing on his unnatural side.

Deal with Torino back on if Bog roll signs.

Don't reallly want him, but at least he has pace.

Which may help us get up the pitch quicker.

Praet has never been an out and out winger. BR appears to expect him to play more centrally (right) and make the through balls which hes good at, but this on top of playing out wide doing offence and defensive work. It's like telling Maddison to do his central work and cover Barnes flank. Imo that's why we usually see Praet somewhere on the halfway line.
