I agree that the responsibility goes across several areas of the club, I'm not trying to throw it all on Top. They collectively pushed the finances and we have got our fingers burnt, perhaps BR's successful start and winning chat sucked the rest of the structure down a rabbit hole.

 

I'm sure we have learned big lessons and with the expiry of many contracts next summer, if we can hang on this season we should get a proper refresh.

I say get what we can and table the rest for January when we can complete the rest. In the mean time the club has to offload the dead wood! This has to be a priority otherwise we’re never gonna get out of this mess of too many unwanted and unqualified players sitting around collecting high wages.

I think you have a very good point. Expecting Top to match his vastly experienced father is asking a lot. I expect club ownership can be a lonely business when things don't go well.

 

I have the utmost respect for the family but they are only human beings, and can and will make mistakes. This period is probably the toughest since the accident and I'm sure everyone at the club is hurting from it, despite some of the views on here.

You could possibly accuse him of not being brave and changing the structure (we've missed out on people like Dan Ashworth who could have made a real difference in our structure, especially with the training ground/stadium stuff) by sticking with Rudkin etc.

 

Surely Top has decent oversight of the money side of the club, and is involved in all the major decisions? I think you may well be right that Top is not quite as ruthless as Vichai, although this is just speculation on my part.

I doubt it, he has a business to run himself.

Chairmen at most businesses pop to a meeting once a month and are given a very brief overview of the accounts. If anything sticks out 'Susan can you sort that out please'

 

Unless things were going horrifically wrong and we were about to go out of business, no Chairman is involved in the day to day stuff.

I didn't say that. I'm sure he signs off on them in some capacity, but his trust in those around him is such that it's likely a formality. 

 

The point is, stuff should be landing on his desk that doesn't even need checking over! We should be being run well enough for that.

I don't like criticising Top, but being an outlier on wages didn't just happen overnight, the money side of the club should have been more careful.

Its  speculation from all of us, but had it occurred to you that not all industries were equally affected by the pandemic?  Travel and related industries were decimated. A friend of mine was a director of a travel advertising business. One month they were looking at significant investment with expansion, the next they were laying off 90% staff. Saudi oil was less affected than Thai duty free.

 

For all we know, we just need to enter a lean period to balance books whilst their sector recovers before more investment for players can come in. Or maybe they are proper fooked, and need out. None of us know.

Doesn't look like anyone other than maybe Praet is going anywhere. So there isn't going to be another centre back coming in. 

 

A name will come out for right midfield. Redmond? Traore? Iwobi?

It's bad though how there is a match being played tonight and it's deadline day.... not an issue for man u I guess but us, we could have 4 or 5 players ripped away before kick off just like that couldn't we??
