So as we approach the end of his tenure, what are your thoughts?

FA Cup winners, two top five finishes. Some young players integrated into the first team. Chilwell and Fofana sold on, KDH and Barnes first team players.

On the other hand, complete capitulation of the Champions League two years on the bounce, huge ‘what if’ moments in the club history looking at the reported  losses. Some  questionable recruitment, Bertrand, Perez, Vestegaard, Bennett etc.

And *hopefully* now leaving the club under a dark cloud with lots of fan anger and in a perilous  position.

Good topic and difficult to sum up in a nutshell.

I'll always be grateful for the FA Cup and how we looked pre 2020 and 2021 bottlejobs in the league.

I dont buy this notion that Rodgers' was a fluke piece of our FA Cup win either that some who hate him seem to throw his way.

But he did bottle the league positions, underachieved in europe and now our current unfathomable position.

I donf dislike the guy but its annoying how his post match interviews were a mechanism to protect himself.

Could have just posed the question in the Brendan Rodgers thread……

It would have got lost within 200 stupid/unfunny 'has he gone yet?' posts.

The two "5th place finishes" that get banded around were ultimately, failures, as we bottled the Champions League in spectacular fashion twice in a row that have now contributed to the financial mess we are in, mostly down to the manager.

FA Cup, obviously a huge success.

Recruitment and development of players, pretty poor overall, again contributing to the mess and one of our greatest ever players taking an early exit. The players brought in (reportedly) via the insistence of the manager have been some of the worst buys in the last few years.

All that coupled with a large chunk of his tenure being behind closed doors, including the highlight of the lot, makes it very difficult to really enjoy a so called "golden period".

I wasn't a fan of bringing him in as I had a close look at what happened at Celtic but I happily admitted I was wrong after the success he brought here and that hasn't changed even after the disaster at the end.

It was the right call bringing him here, just the wrong one to keep him for as long as we have.

I think for the FA Cup win and for competing for top 4 two seasons in a row, he should be probably be viewed as a success overall - but last season & this one has killed off any goodwill he might have had, and his absolute refusal to accept any blame for the situation he's put us in is frankly insulting. In short, it was good for a while, but it's gone stale and it's no longer working.

Will ultimately be viewed as a success as long as we get rid now and prevent further damage. We have a big rebuild job next summer but I think we're stable enough to ride out a tough year or so, and it ticked the FA Cup off the list.

It's been an issue of our own making as well - we panicked when other clubs were sniffing around and gave him that insanely long bumper contract, and it's got to be the biggest reason we haven't already pulled the trigger.

Why is everyone so increasingly obsessed with such binary splitting.

Amen brother.

It's across so many debates; the simplistic notion of being for or against, of someone being entirely good or bad. I find it tiring, and it can sadly bring out the contrarian in me.

I don't think anyone can say it was a failure.  There have been good times and bad.  Overall I have a regretful feeling of unfulfilled potential.  The FA Cup winner was the exception and a great highlight.

Of course Rodgers reign has been successful on the whole, but the longer he stays the more his legacy will be tarnished.

First 2 seasons were a big success. Last season was a wasted opportunity to build off that back of that success and start of his decline, despite being well backed last summer. 4th season a complete disaster.

In the history books he'll go down as our 2nd or 3rd most successful manager of all time.

He has done as well as we should've been expected to do with the squad we had & the positions that Chelsea, Manchester United, Arsenal & Spurs were in between 2019 & 2021. I would call that a success.

If he'd left at the end of the 20/21 season i'd call it a success. Given last year's performance levels & this year's results, it's been a failure since then.

This summary is pretty fair….

His record is good and under his management we achieved what most of us have been yearning for all our supporting lives in the FA Cup win…

It just seems to have gone completely off the rails of late and he’s not covered himself in glory with comments, so most will remember him for the latter part of his tenure, which is a shame as he has been by any objective view a success…

Overall he’s been a failure, despite what the low IQ British media will peddle out. If we keep our bottle in those two top four challenging seasons, we’re not here now worrying about finances. His shit tactics and subs were very close to losing us that FA Cup too.

Good but largely ineffective football. We’ve blown teams away during his time here but in equal measure been absolutely shat on at times, too.
