Failure.  To have the backing, time to mould your own team .  He has failed with what he promised.  That Fa cup win, papered over the cracks that started to appear in Brendans paper thin plan 3 months before the FA cup win (even then it was nearly undone again by Brendan's over thinking and Chelsea focused on other sights).  He has failed to stop the rot, failed to get top 4 when it was in our hands, failed conceding for set pieces /corners.  But what he has done decent in is introducing youth, and keeping his media darling status going.  Top/Susan have got it wrong sadly, we have been used by Brendan , to develop brand Brendan , club come last.

Also, there are results that simply should not have happened. Bournemouth away, Spurs at home, Slavia at home was a disaster. Hate turning up to big games now knowing the team won’t be mentally ready. Just want a team of fighters back.

Success. 2 top 5 finishes and an FA Cup win, how can his time not be seen as an overall success.

If we were to sack him and still get relegated due to the mess he contributed to, would you still see it as a success out of interest?

Why is everyone so increasingly obsessed with such binary splitting.

Rodgers has delivered on his targets in two of his three seasons qualifying for European football and winning a domestic cup.

He's obviously not delivered during this calendar year or much at all over the last 12 months and his position has now become untenable.

The answer is always more nuanced than Good or Bad. I desperately wish this place would accept that a little.

Indicative of the wider world innit. Balance and nuance is trumped by sitting on the extremes of either side because we all need to bed into one opinion and fight for it like a lion.

Would Ranieri been a failure if we got relegated after sacking him?

No imo, because there's a subtle difference in that the infrastructure and players were largely from Pearson's reign. With BR it's pretty much all him or at least he's had years to work with them. Presumably you don't think it would harm his tenure overall if we were to get relegated then?

The top five finish argument is completely liquified by the fact they were abject failures to get top four when it was harder to not finish there, the subsequent campaigns and the mess that planning for top four has left us in financially.

Cup was terrific though.

Of course, it would definitely harm it.

I guess its difficult to detemine success or failure in that scenario. He's had success followed by failure. Hopefully doesn't come to that.

Failure in my view. Had the best ever team and squad with absolutely loads of potential, yet at best only achieved par. Spent a fortune in the process too on pretty mediocre players. We missed out on two champions league campaigns under his stewardship when it seemed almost impossible not to qualify. Also made limited progress in Europe being dumped out of the competition we originally qualified for in the group stages despite being one of the favourites. This was glossed over somewhat by reaching the final stages of a competition we really should have won.

Yes, the FA Cup win was amazing and was one of my most memorable trips to Wembley, but to add some context, Wigan managed to win the Cup under Martinez (hardly a managerial genius) whilst at the same time getting relegated. I appreciate it was a great achievement but with any cup success attributed to a team outside the big 6 there's always an element of luck involved and any team are capable of winning the competition if they go on a run, unlike the league where consistency dictates your position.

Yes, there's been other highs too like the 0-9 victory against Southampton and at times some scintillating football being played, but at the same time there's been some very embarrassing results too like Bournemouth away, and the capitulation against Forest.

Factoring everything in and based upon where he started to where we are now we've moved backwards as a club under his leadership.

On the whole I'd say it's a fail.

1st season was a success to get us to 5th. It could've been 4th, but still an achievement nonetheless.

2nd season was a mixed bag. Another 5th place finish this time felt like a missed opportunity and more of a fail, but we had an OK run in Europe that ended dismally, and of course the FA Cup success.

3rd season was an undoubted failure. Injuries affected things, but still no excuse for some of our performances, particularly in Europe. 8th place and missing out entirely is proving disastrous to our finances already, despite having the opportunity to at least get 7th at the tail end of the season. We had our first European semi final, but it was in a competition that we never should have ended up in - it's criminal that we didn't qualify for the Europa League knockouts.

4th season so far needs no further comment. Unmitigated failure.

Some good periods in amongst all that, and the FA Cup was obviously a highlight, but the trajectory over his time here is increasingly worrying and he's taken us from an amazing position to capitalise on our success, to a broken mess of a club which is only going to get worse as contracts expire next summer.

The longer he stays here, the bigger a failure he's been. It's only going in one direction, sadly.

One thing I'll never take away from him is the Fa cup win. The two 5th placed finishes have asterix next to them and get the **** out of here with the European semi final bullshit

Not everything is black and white. There appears to be a weird obsession in football with everyone either being a legend or shite... sometimes there is grey areas. Rodgers was the best manager to build on the foundations Puel built. He was hugely successful in taking us to that next level, and challenging the top six and winning trophies.

His race is now done with us, and the shine is coming off, but he is a good football manager with floors. We appreciate how well he did for us, we can also appreciate it is time for him to move on and that is in the best interests of both parties now.

FA Cup is a huge success.

Everything else seems worth it just to have that euphoric feeling.

But there are no more successes with this man in charge. It is so clear. Bin him off.

It’s nuanced and contradictory. Overall a success but it’s undeniable that the longer he’s been here and the more influence he’s acquired,  the worse he has got.

Historically an FA Cup, a Community Shield and two fifth places , two European tours, including a semi final are superb achievements.

But there will always be an asterisk or two. To be top 4 for so long and not get over the line twice -  given the financial consequences of CL qualification - really is some kind of failure. It really does call into question-his credentials to be known as an elite coach.

We got to two semi finals - Villa and Roma - and barely turned up.

And I appreciate this may seem a weird one on my part,  but my gratitude for the FA Cup win is always tempered.by his shameful treatment of Kelechi - whose goals got us to Wembley  in the first place.

Finally, his statements since announcing the refresh last February but most obviously in the last few weeks seem designed to damage our club - (eg proclaiming players to be not good enough) which for me is unforgivable.

Needs to go now because if we get relegated we will be in for a long stint in the wilderness, maybe even a brush with administration again. Not even the FA Cup win could offset that.

Time will be kinder to him and he will be deemed a success. We just need to get the horrid football of the past 18 or so months out of our systems.

The way he as acted makes him a failure. The other key point is he will leave us far worse off than when he joined. He took over a side that was capable of reaching the top 6. He didn’t do something amazing, this wasn’t Martin O’Neil miracle work. This was on par management, at best.

Where he is leaving us makes him a failure.
