Oh God could just picture that on his autobiography lol

Brendan Rodgers: A boss and an entertainer

What about him waxing lyrical about Benkovic's shift in mentality and saying he was naming him in the 25 man squad over Nampalys Mendy and that he'd get game time over the season. He played zero minutes and we badly missed Mendy as Ndidi was either injured or filling in at centre half where Benkovic still couldn't get a game.

Spot on

“There’s a lot that goes on behind the scenes that people would be unaware of. Cags is a good man and it’s been hard for him.

“Again I go back, when I came in here he was fourth-choice centre-half. He had the chance then and did really well in that first season. I think it’s then probably been a mixed bag for him.

“But what you’re always looking at is the two. When you’re putting centre-halves together, it’s about the two, it’s not about two individuals. They’ve got to work together.

“Cags has come in and has had various injuries, he’s had moments where he’s not been able to train and has been out of the team. But then of course, we had Wesley Fofana and Jonny Evans for a good part of that.

“He’s there, he’s working, and if we feel then that he’s in that right moment to come in, we will do that. But you can only judge on what you’re seeing in training. But him, his professionalism has been superb, but you’ve just got to always pick the team that’s the best collective.”

Yet he played 40 games in 19/20 mostly with Evans 45 games when we finished 5th conceding 41 goals in 38 games. So he's shown he is compatible with Evans and his "professionalism has been superb"  which I assume includes training well.

So why is he prepared to use every other combination but not include Soyuncu? We're bottom of the league Soyuncu must be capable of helping us improve on that position.

So he's either protecting Soyuncu from some personal or fitness issue he has or he just doesn't like the guy.

Can there be another reason

Weirdly when based on the 2, would that be Cags & Jonny that were the 2 centre halves that were part of the Leicester team that won 8 games on the bounce between mid Oct 2019 and mid Dec 2019, 3 goals conceded in 8 games including 5 clean sheets, hmmm??  It'll be he doesn't like him then as he called him out for being lazy in training a month or so back.

This is the game I struggle to move on from, especially when you consider some of the shit he seems to let slide in games we've lost or struggled in but he thought we did a good job. Astonishing.

That West Brom game is enough evidence for me to show that our capitulation in games after going up in the first half is 90% down to his game plan.

We score and we try and 'control' the game but all it does is allow the opposition team to push up the pitch as we're not threatening them. Our players drift out of the game as our attempt to slow down the tempo puts our players in a possession induced coma instead and suddenly we're 2-1 down.

I hate how predictable this is every time we're leading at half time, i actually might consider turning the game off next time we're leading 1-0 at the break because it's almost a guaranteed capitulation at this point, would rather 0-0.

Seeing all this shite in one place is too much
For me the ones that are really up their beyond the others are;

That it was too hot on Saturday! Ffs I run warm and struggle with higher temperatures a bit earlier than most might but it was like 15 degrees, sunny and dry. Literally perfect conditions for football!

The we were happy to stay up when he arrived. Yes ok so 14th when newly promoted, 1st, 12th, 9th and 9th! Absolute BS but now he has turned us into a club who will be grateful just to stay up. I don’t disagree with him saying 40 points is the target for this season but whose fault is that!

The West Brom game as mentioned above. That showed his colours and was very concerning.

I'm loving my time here working with the players - BS

It was very hot for the players - temperature was 16c

It'll come with experience - Vardy, Evans, Youri, Casagne and a team full of international players

It was due to fatigue - Makes one substitute taking off the fittest player at the club by some distance

It's a beautiful place to play football - Preston North End!

We were very unlucky - Yes unlucky they scored 4 / 5 or 6

We defended well in the first 72 minutes - we'd already conceded 3 and went on to concede another 3 in the last 18 minutes

That's just some of the garbage in the last 2 / 3 months!

There's so much we've forgotten about I reckon, we could stomach some of the shit he came out with between 19-21, it's only now it's unbearable.

Another stock phrase I hate, "We want to press the game".

Here's a good one from Yesterday's club email that I just saw. I'm not sure if Rodgers is lying, but it's concerning if he's satisfied. I much prefer Castagne's mindset.

Ooooh, i've got a good one!

3-0 v West Brom. (3-0 at half time).

Despite sealing the win in the first half, the Foxes boss was not pleased with his team's overall performance until after the break.

"First half, I wasn't happy, to be honest," Rodgers said. "Too many loose passes, too many mistakes, given the ball away too much."

"Second half, we could control the game better. They obviously changed their shape and really blocked it up."

He said: "We then were able to work the ball side to side and control any thread they may have. We defended set pieces well to keep a clean sheet, so yes, a good win for us.

"You obviously want to score more goals if you can, but we didn't have to. We could control, we could conserve the ball, keep the positions on the field, pass it, and like I say, they did that very well."

I can't actually take it seriously even to this day, i'd like to say he was taking the piss and it was all fibs, unfortunately we all know too well it isn't.

This night told me alot about Rodgers, confirmed alot about Rodgers and is everything that is wrong with him, his style and modern football.

The second half is actually the way he wants to play football. Disgusting.

I remember well how glowingly Allardyce spoke of us that night. Said we were the best team in the league apart from Man City based on that showing. As we know, he wasn't talking about the mentality and approach in that second half.

Castagne has exactly the right mentality, he's often critical of our gutless approach.

Must be tough coming from a free scoring Atalanta to a team that you thought was free scoring but just as the manager is having a personality transplant.
