Hey everyone

Here is my article for the three things we learned from the Manchester City defeat - https://foxesofleicester.com/2022/10/30/leicester-city-manchester-city-3-things/

summary

1. defence is continuing to improve as well as Danny Ward - only goal conceded in 4 matches is a world class free kick.

2. Counter attacking needs to be Brendan's next task

3. Jamie Vardy should no longer be starting games - off the bench gets the best of him for me

what do you guys think?

(NOTE: the link has the odd pop up but if its read on an iphone or macbook it tends to be fairly easy to close the one pop up that i got. As its a good sized article it needs to go over a few pages - turn on your ad blocker settings as well as some feedback has been given that lots can pop up some time, think that might be on some devices that are a bit more exposed, let us know any feedback though. Just keen for my writing to find an audience, not worried about clicks - 😉  ✌️ )

On this....why don't all teams but a player on the post furthest from the keeper? All this draft excluder crap seems unnecessary compared to that. Is it to do with playing other players onside?

Not suggesting this is exclusively a Leicester issue

i still think even with a player on the post that they'd struggle to head that strike away. probably is because of the offside stuff though

That Man City really know how to keep possession.

Rodgers must've had a stiffy on the sideline

Not just about Jamie, we need to be rethinking the concept that starting games means playing 60 minutes or so.

2 subs is plenty to keep till the end to cover injuries or throw on the lamp posts.

For example I liked the idea of Iversen starting occasional games with Kasper coming on second half or after conceding a goal, regardless of fault..... that got poo pooed.

Anyways, bringing fresh legs on for the last 20 minutes loses some benefit when the opposition has just renewed its midfield and detense too.

Why not be aggresive and put 2 players on for the 1st half, even 30 mins of hard work. The early changes in tactics might bugger up opposition game plans too

In the Vardy scenario, Daka would still have 30 to 45 less minutes in his legs and finish stronger than if he had played the full 90.

KDH going in heavy on Tielemans was a bit ott! What was all that about?

Given that they are team mates for Belgium

Didn’t know Kiernan was Belgian.

We learnt that the set piece coach is worth the money he’s being paid.

And we learnt that Faes and Amartey look to be the CB partnership going forward.

I'd probably hold off on that one until we play teams that can actually score goals who we don't put 11 men behind the ball against.

It's quite obviously Faes +1 though I'll give you that :D

1. If we ask vardy to come back abd defend then tbeir cbs sit half way in oir half.   Crazy... this just puts us ubder pressure.

2. City foul on the turnover and refs let them do it.

I thought Man City were much worse than us.

Should have been booked towards the end for kicking and manhandling Ward, stopping him from taking a quick  kick or throw out, some harsh words between the two.

He is a ****. Constantly fouls but gets away with it. What was that holding onto Ward all about and stopping him from kicking the ball? Loves to moan post match as well, same as Rhodri.

A lot of their players I can accept as being so good but can't stand them.

I don't like players that like to give it out but can't take it, ala De Brunye. Would love to see him against someone like Patrick Vieira in his prime. There aren't enough players like that anymore that will actually give it back and not let players like De Bruyne do what they want.

Well Rogers has sussed KDH and said how well Mendy did...

I need to rewatch  the highlights,  see how we conceded the goal, 1 of us has forgotten 😉
