Argentina players must be glad they don't need to go back to their country. Only Franco Armani, the GK on the bench, plays for River Plate. All the others will be denied entry back home under the argentinian President decision.

Same. With the greatest respect, the South American teams are no where near the strength they used to be. European football is far, far stronger. Argentina are poor, they’ve been poor for years, their best chance to win a World Cup was when they decided to put Maradona in charge….. They aren’t going to win the World Cup.

Yes, but my point was the gulf of class between Argentina and Saudi Arabia is greater than that of England and Iran (on paper at least).

First game I've properly enjoyed that. 

 

Hopefully I can continue to enjoy a few more whilst still maintaining a fervent wish for FIFA to die a slow death.

There's no way they didn't want it enough. It's Argentina. These players know, like Brazil, there's a whole nation behind that live and die with football.
