Well if Verstappen wins from this situation given his comments and Red Bull’s  performance then we might as well give up  !

I can't see it based on the above article. Their car just doesn't work at this circuit. They can't run it as low as normal and it's too bumpy for them to get any rear grip. Plus it's in Parc Ferme now so they can't make any adjustments to the rear suspension and are essentially stuck with the awful setup from qualifying for the entire race.

Verstappen will do well to get anywhere near the podium places IMO.

Russell :o

How devastating.

Nope

he couldn’t win because his tyres weren’t up to it and he stopped his team mate having.a chance of competing

that wasn’t driving for the good of the team was it

could have been a P2 and P4 at worst. Ended up with a P3

I thought he was competing though, pushed Norris but is it his fault the tyres weren't up to it?

VAMOS!!!!

Masterful drive from Sainz, probably one of the best drives i've seen in many years. At every single step of that race he had to allow the car behind him to have DRS so that he could hold up the rest of the field, whilst managing his tyres enough to keep that gap stable.
Fully deserved, brilliant drive! Fantastic from Lando too defending the faster mercs. Hamilton imo deserved 3rd as he was clearly much faster than George but was patiently playing the team game hoping George would get the move done, I imagine Lewis was having to fight his own instincts there to not attack George. Felt he deserved 3rd but also really sad to see George lose it at the end, he deserved 4th minimum.

Strategic masterclass from Sainz, incredibly slept on driver who is coming into his own now.

Of course it’s not his fault but having seen that he didn’t have it in his car to pass Norris the team should have asked him to allow Lewis to pass him.  but these guys have to be selfish to succeed so no surprise really. I guess it’s not like Mercedes are competing for P1 in the constructors but a P2 and P4 would have gone a fair way to making them strong in second place

Shock as Ferrari don't f**k it.

Felt massively for Charles, Ferrari made the right call to double stack, nailed the pitstop but got held up in traffic, from that point Charles was in an uphill battle.

Agree with both of you tbh, Russell drove well today and deserved 4th. But he was clearly holding up Lewis for a long time. Lewis gets massive credit there for not attacking George until the final lap. If hypothetically George had swapped positions with Lewis when they caught up, no doubt in my mind Lewis would have got Lando and very likely Sainz.

Just as expected, take Red Bull out of the equation and the races become exciting again. Great performances by a host of drivers today.

Which sums up the selfishness of his approach

I don’t blame him for wanting to defend his podium place but the outcome showed it wasn’t actually the best strategy

It's The Hamilton Effect, I guess? :P

Outstanding from Sainz! One of the best performances this decade. VAMOS!

I mean it was a decent controlled drive but I wouldn't go that far.

He was basically deliberately driving slow and managing his tyres the whole race. Then backing Norris up at the end with pace in hand if he needed it.

It's a shame Hamilton wasn't ahead of Russell as he looked like he could have challenged Norris a bit better and maybe had a go at Sainz for a lap or two.
