Yeah I agree, probably didn’t reply in the context of the whole thread. Although staying up is essential to allow us to control finances.

Yeah no worries. And by the same token, I know bringing the finances under control is a combination of stopping the stupid spending and also maximising revenue so being in the Prem. So whilst I knew what I meant by free hit season, it will have come off as quite flippant.

I think basically, we will survive if we yo-yo for a couple of seasons but if we don’t learn our lesson from spending badly, we will never stabilise properly.

We need to blood these players now. Sending them out on loan is lazy thinking that lacks foresight. If we’re happy to play Fatawu then we should do the same for Alves. Both young and full of tricks. I dare say the latter could be more consistent with crosses and shots.

Game time pre season

see how he and Sammi look

if they appear up to it physically then keep here

otherwise a league 1 or championship loan

and if the6 don’t get enough game time in the autumn then they can take a loan from Jan

Throwing in at the deep end isn't always the worst thing you know. I think providing its managed properly, ie not throwing them all in together at Anfield etc.. they can become useful to us this season.

Star boy

Such a shame he had a really important 12-18 months of his career robbed from him.

No doubt he would've played a fair bit for us last season if he was available

Give him some good game time through pre-season and I would be looking to keep him in the squad as back up for Mavididi and the 10 position

Agree 100%. But who is he backing up in the 10 position?

There’s definitely something about this lad.

Quick, confident on the ball, makes good decisions… he’ll be in the squad at the start of the season and all going well will be demanding a starting spot come the end.

He’s seriously good.

Looks total quality and if we had the luxury you'd send him to Luton or West Brom. Like KDH or Barnes, to learn how to impact a game and then come back to the first team.

Normally I’d say yes… but he’s that good I think he’s getting in our 11 come Christmas/New Year.

If he is to go out on loan. Its needs to be Championship. Best thing is the positivity when he gets the ball. Not interested in going backwards or recycling the ball for the sake of it.

Would probably do him better then 15 minutes here and there in a relegation scrap tbh. Loan until christmas then reassess Barnes styles

He's too good to go out on loan, he has quality that we're going to need next season.

We can't expose him in the first team till he's signed a contract extension.

Seriously worrying it's up next summer.

Get it done now.

£200m release clause, expiring in 2044.

This drama has gone on long enough!

There’s no time like now so hope cooper has a definite plan to integrate Alves into the team. He can develop as we go. If the kid can play he’s ready

We must surely have been trying that.

if he hasn’t signed yet then that must be down to his advisers ??

I'm jumping to conclusions a bit but I'd be disappointed if the lack of new contract is down to him and his advisers being awkward. Always find it frustrating when a player stalls on a new contract having spent more than a year out injured and been looked after by the club. Understand he wants game time and to progress, but don't think dragging contract issues helps.
