It certainly looked like our players didn’t do as much running. Anyone got any statistics that disprove this?

Their self belief is shot to pieces

they are hiding

hence they’ll do less running

This has been the story of the season though, but it did look like it was at its worst yesterday.

I remember when Arsenal came here. If we got possession it felt their entire team swarmed back into defense quicker than we even realised we had the ball. Likewise, as soon Ramsdale picked the ball up the entire team was sprinting out giving him loads of options to work with.

Yesterday, if Iversen picked up the ball our players were just jogging out. Even though we were deep it felt Bournmouth had a lot of two on twos with us. Soumare and Madders just jogging around means we have nothing in Midfield. Utterly depressing.

That's the absense of KDH I'm afraid. The kid's a pressing machine.

Naa it’s not that. He presses well but then the rest of the midfield doesn’t.

It has to be a collective nature to press but our midfield players simply don’t have it in them

You could see where it was missed, but you can't just have one player doing this in the side. Even if you aren't a 'pressing machine', just daintily jogging out when we Iversen has picked up the ball is pathetic.

Shame he’s got no quality to match it.

This happened when any of our players had the ball. No movement or looking for space, it is footballing basics, I'm telling my 6 year old son now that "pass and move, look for the space" is the way to get past players easily.

Like we don't know how to do basics, as you say when Iverson gets the ball we need to give him options, doesn't matter that he will kick it straight out of play, let's give him the options.

The impression I got from yesterdays game that players were just standing about waiting for the ball or that we making the wrong pass. We also seemed so compressed going forward that receiving player were struggling to control the ball as coming at them so fast. In the whole it felt I was having a bad dream it was hard to believe it was really happening :(

And on top of that, when your confidence is low and things don’t work, so just do the simple option. Hit the channel, work the line on throws in, run harder and win the second ball. Yet repeatedly yesterday they’d attempt passes across their own 18 yard box.

This is why KDH’s red card had a bigger impact on our season than we first though.

There was no one running in midfield yesterday, no one running into space, and no one trying to play passes through up front.

Keep hearing that players are suffering from a lack of confidence. No sure why that would prevent the team from doing the basics like a simple 5-yard pass or controlling a football. The basic stuff that kids can manage. It's a poor excuse.

Unmotivated, unfit, disorganised rabble. Not seeing any evidence of anyone taking responsibility.

Our players are pathetic. Not fit to wear the shirt.

This is exactly how I feel.

The fact our squad’s wage bill is the 7th highest in the league sums up the arrogance the board and Rodgers had/have towards football in the Premier League.

Overpaid and over rated springs to mind, the players really did start believing their own hype until Rodgers kept peddling the refresh comments and the wheels fell off.

I will happily dine on that theory until the media/fans stop saying how great Rodgers was for us.

Exactly this.  You have to press in waves so even though Vardy, Maddison and to an extent Barnes were pressing the back line the idea is that they are pushed into making hurried passes to midfielders who are themselves under pressure from where mistakes come.  Usually KDH and Mendy do this but yesterday nobody was.  It was a weird combination of a high press, 50 yards of empty space then a low block.

I would have loved them to trudge into the dressing room at half-time to be met by Walshie (legend), Taggart, Morgan, Huth and Waz.  That might have been an interesting ‘conversation’.

We’ve signed some duffers.

We insist on playing duffers.

Rodgers has signed players to develop them, then blatantly hasn’t.

He’s gone and the players are thinking ‘now what’?

Loads of them are off in the summer.

The crowd are possibly the most apathetic in the division.

Our form is the fourth worst across all four English divisions.

Summary:

We’ve gone from being a brilliantly run club to a fookin shambles in a few years.

I think there was a little bit of an issue with that. But I think the big biggest issue yesterday was little or no plan and they got the starting line up wrong.

There is nothing that will pick this squad up. It's an impossible job. A lack of leadership, work ethic and pride takes some serious doing at this level, but that's exactly what's been cultivated over the last couple of years. I genuinely don't think a Pep/Klopp figure could even turn this around, and I'd be utterly amazed if we won another game this season.

Our midfield has been poor all season, any opposition with any half decent desire or quality cut through us.

We haven’t pressed for games now. Mings was able to literally walk the ball out of defence at times on Tuesday.
