His previous stint as a manager with Parma was a disaster, some people are better at being a coach than a manager.

Well if it is Enzo, he needs a season at least to get his style of play across.  Hopefully it clicks straight away or he gets the time to implement it

We need some players first! But he won't have a year. We need to be in the top 4 by Christmas and within touching distance of automatic promotion. If not, we likely head back to the Parkerville

Looks more like a chinos and tight t-shirt manager

Not at Huddersfield away on a cold and miserable rainy Tuesday night.

When do we reckon he'll be gone by? I'll go 8 games after we lose 4-0 to Preston away.

He came from Manchester, to come and manage Leicester

He's the f****n s*** and his name is Mar-e-sca

It's up the league we go, with the Italian master

Hey Mar-e-sca!

I'm not too fussed that it might be a bit of a risk, I'm just excited by the potential, especially if he brings in a whole new team of backroom staff and makes good use of the training ground. Can't wait to see if those things happen!

Hope one of the first things he does is sack Mike Stowell.

Someone with a proven track record of promotions for a start. Someone who has managed a football club and not just for 14 games. Someone with a bit more experience I guess.

He’s a big risk. A bigger risk than I would have liked our club to take in what is probably our biggest summer window ever. Having said that, I guess the club just want him to coach and they’ll sort out the rest.

Trouble is the candidates that fit those criteria are parker and smith - and the the thought of them coming in is just unthinkable.

I know we say this in jest, but I do wonder whether the club might panic if we get off to a terrible start.

They will know they gave Rodgers far too much time, and as a result might get a little bit trigger-happy with Maresca.

It sounds like he had grand plans for this that have been temporarily shelved due to work permits. I think Stowell and Sadler will stay... hopefully just temporarily.

Sexy football is back in Leicester...

Can we all remember to have some patience whilst the sexy football sets in. We battered Pep’s Man City whilst he was still figuring out how to play out from the back effectively.

Yeah that's my big concern. My only worry about this appointment is that 'it doesn't feel very Leicester City,' in the fact we've had managers like Sousa in the past who fell flat on their face.

I'm hoping that bringing a coach in rather than a standard old school style manager will mean we're switching to developing players again rather than buying any old tripe we get offered.

But yeah, if he doesn't start well, I could see the hierarchy pulling the trigger quickly.

Haven't heard anything about us even short listing him, let alone interviewing him....

I'm going for a Sousa-esque implosion. 6-1 reversal to Plymouth (since Portsmouth won't be around) and culminating in a 3-2 loss at Norwich with Vardy getting sent off for getting into a fight right after scoring.

(I'm actually optimistic but this is LCFC, our rollercoaster makes Alton Towers look tame)

SO much depends on the make up of his backroom team. He needs his own people of course, but he also needs (a) 'helping hand(s)', from those who know this Division and experience of its peculiar nature (ie promotion pressures). IF (big if) he/we can get that right, I am very optimistic.

Those wondering what managerial credentials he has, may look at Pep and think he has all those good players what could he do at Stoke etc. I'm sure Enzo will have learned how Pep selects his teams, communicates with the at least 10 class players that don’t play each week, while keeping them motivated for when they will be required. Potter the guy everyone apparently wanted couldn't manage that at Chelsea.

A quote from the Athletic

Maresca and Leicester have discussed the backroom staff members to potentially join the Italian manager. Part of the initial plans he had were readjusted due to the difficulties around granting a UK work permit to some of the personnel.

(The Athletic)

this suggests we have been talking to him for a a while if we have already found out some of his team don’t qualify for a work permit…

Apparently one of his main points before agreeing to the job was that Mike Stowell would continue in his role as goal keeping coach at Leicester City.

Well, that would have involved playing in the Smith or Parker pool.  On reflection, im glad we didn't.

Personally, i massively stoked for this and congratulate the club on thinking about this differently bearing in mind where we find ourselves. It also shows that they may have had a plan all along that needed to be executed at the right time. Obviously, we know very little about how Enzo is planning to tackle this, what his football philosophy will be but I have to put faith in the club that they have interviewed him properly and done all their due diligence.  Its going to be a great journey learning, rather than just expecting what Smith or Parker were going to serve up.

A few things i think i need to bear in mind. Firstly, i think the first month or so is going to be really bumpy. We are not getting all our outgoing and incoming sorted in the next few weeks and preseason is going to be quite disruptive. Secondly, if Enzo succeeds in getting us promoted, and we start ok in PL after that (i know i know, lots of ifs!!!), he is going to be in hot demand. If this happens we are just going to have to let him go. No long term overpaying deals trying to keep up with the big boys.

I genuinely believe they wanted to keep BR on to the end of the season so he'd be poached or quit, thus saving having to pay him off - this seems even more reasonable if we are to believe they've been monitoring Maresca as a replacement, knowing they couldn't approach him until now.

Love it. I remember that Portsmouth game and as the 6th went in seeing the camera zoom in on Miguel Vitor's bemused face.
