It is already starting to look like the long drawn-out appointment we really don't need. 

The club usually goes on holiday for the first 2 or 3 weeks after the season is over anyway.

Exactly this.

 

Ask Villa fans, the club was steady and stable under Smith and just struggling to adapt post-Grealish. They were a disorganised shambles under Gerrard. Whatever he did at Rangers, you cannot ignore Villa going from bottom 3 to Europe after he was sacked. That's a massive red flag.

No we're still at the top "hire anybody so long as they've never had an average or worse spell at a club" phase, which does limit our options somewhat

Interesting the like of gerrard as managers, he was a leader on the pitch but has struggled to transfer that over to being a manager.

 

I guess he lead by example as a player and you can’t do that as a manager.
