AjcW Posted 14 August 2023 Posted 14 August 2023 Hard to see how that’s going to be topped all season… but I’m sure it will be
Guest Kopfkino Posted 14 August 2023 Posted 14 August 2023 Why are goalkeepers just allowed to take players out? Reminds me of the Ederson one on Barnes a few years back
orangecity23 Posted 14 August 2023 Posted 14 August 2023 Man United getting looked after nicely by PGMOL as usual. Refs not allowed to cost them anything, wouldn't want Sky Sports getting all upset and getting out their electron microscope and panel of Ex United players out to freeze frame it and try to construct some argument as to why a keeper punching someone in the chops isn't a foul. 1
Voll Blau Posted 14 August 2023 Posted 14 August 2023 Not sure I've seen VAR replay an incident so many times only for the decision to *not* be overturned. Glad we're out of it.
tom27111 Posted 14 August 2023 Posted 14 August 2023 Gutted for you @The Bear That's worse than the first year VAR was bought in and Youri Tielemans tried to break one of your players legs. 1
Corky Posted 14 August 2023 Posted 14 August 2023 Absolute pisstake. Nailed on penalty and keeper again gets away with clattering an opponent. Shocker.
Hilton Fox Posted 14 August 2023 Posted 14 August 2023 Typical. Never get anything at old Trafford. Disgusting.

Bert Posted 14 August 2023 Posted 14 August 2023 Just now, Voll Blau said: Not sure I've seen VAR replay an incident so many times only for the decision to *not* be overturned. Glad we're out of it. VAR Transcript: VAR: “I think it’s a penalty, Simon” REF: “Ok, remember It’s Man Utd at Old Trafford and they’re 1-0 up”. VAR: “Ok, Fair point, check over”. 1 2
The Bear Posted 14 August 2023 Posted 14 August 2023 If a striker had gone into the goalie like that it's an automatic foul 1000 times out of 1000. https://dubz.co/mc/ace607 1 1
Guesty Posted 14 August 2023 Posted 14 August 2023 I feel sorry for officials sometimes, it's a hard job. But that's clear as day; there's not really any mitigation for missing it. If the PGMOL are going to start being hard-line with everyone else I expect them to discipline their own officials. There's no excuse for missing that apart from cowardice. They'll come out an say it's not clear and obvious; why even bother to check it in the first place then.
Ashdav86 Posted 14 August 2023 Posted 14 August 2023 Definate penalty if VAR isn't there for decisions like that what's the point Judging by the evidence of the game wolves probably miss it 1
Bert Posted 14 August 2023 Posted 14 August 2023 These new rules are a joke, basically been brought in to give referees more protection from their cock ups.

tom27111 Posted 14 August 2023 Posted 14 August 2023 In theory, VAR is perfect. Nobody gets fvcked over. Unlike cricket, because you can run out of reviews (which is bullshit), either get the decision right or wrong. But the way its interpreted is horrendous. There is literally no excuse to get an important decision in football wrong, yet it happens time and time again. And we should all love VAR. It kind of helped us win the FA Cup
tom27111 Posted 14 August 2023 Posted 14 August 2023 Most shots by a visiting team in the league at Old Trafford since 2005
Super_horns Posted 14 August 2023 Posted 14 August 2023 Same happened yesterday at Brentford v Spurs so obviously goalies will be allowed to do what they like . Whereas last season Man C got a penalty at Arsenal for a similar sort of incident.
The Bear Posted 14 August 2023 Posted 14 August 2023 (edited) The sooner VAR gets taken away from PGMOL the better. Edited 14 August 2023 by The Bear 1 1
tom27111 Posted 14 August 2023 Posted 14 August 2023 You know what would make it more bearable? Make the ref come out for a post match interview. Most of them are household names now (love you Deano), and make a lot of money. Let's hear their view of it. Don't hide behind the PGMOL, you made the decision, tell the millions of supporters why.
