I think he's just making a point of him not being good enough on the ball to play in the double pivot and that we are in desperate need of actual attacking midfielders.

 

I don't think he wants/needs Ndidi.

I actually think he looks like he’s got his physical attributes back this year, it wouldn’t surprise me if he went to play his old role well somewhere else.

Yeah I think he's completely done in, to be honest. 

 

We have this obsession with footballer's ages as if human bodies have literal sell by dates. 

 

Someone like Vardy is still going moderately strong because he was so late in to the professional game. 

 

Youri on the other hand has played probably not far off world record minutes for someone of his age. Since his mid teens he's been playing solidly for club and then country domestically and in continental tournaments. You can't put your body through all of that and expect it to not take it's toll.

Looks far more switched on and eager to cover vast amounts of ground. I quite like the option of him in either the 6 or 8 if needs be. But would be galling to lose him on a free.

Ndidi has started league games now as that number 8. You don't start a player in a key position of your new system in your first league game to make a point. 

 

You do that because you believe they can play the part. 

 

His role in that position hasn't been the same as it will be when Casadei fills it. He's there to lead a big press and retrieve the ball in their half when we lose possession. And he's done that well. 

 

On top of that, due to him being closer to the box he's ended up in positions he's not used to being in, and, including friendlies, scored 2 goals as a result. Again, I'd say that's him putting in good performances in this system. 

 

If a good offer comes in for Ndidi, I imagine we take it, but if not, he has a role to play in this system. He's a player that offers us an aggressive press which will be very useful against certain teams and set-ups, as well as an option to switch to later in games to help us control them.

Praet is more suited to play there in an attacking capacity. I do genuinely believe that Ndidi has been trained to play there to offer us a different strategy in the same formation. 

 

I expect to see Casadei there more often than not, but I do expect to see Ndidi pop up on the starting team list every now and again, depending on who we're playing.

Casadei is a number 8. A genuine box to box player. Ndidi simply doesn't have the same level of ability on the ball.

Maresca's English is not the best. You can't take his words literally. 

 

Ndidi is playing in an attacking role, that right 8, but if you watch him play, he's using his defensive instincts to win the ball back fast when attacks break down.

 

He's still in that high up position running into the box so he's had to adapt his game of course, but again, 2 goals in 7 games is a good return for an 8 who's not used to being in on goal. Are we forgetting to postage stamp he hit last week?

People saying Ndidi isn't good enough to play for Bayern but you have to look at the opposition Bayern play every week. 

 

Is Ndidi in his defensive role good enough to play against the other teams in the Bundesliga? He struggled here last season because he was playing against teams like City, United, Liverpool and Chelsea etc. 

 

I suspect he'd do much better against the likes of Hoffenheim, Augsburg, Koln, Schalke etc.

So i'm not allowed to listen to what he's doing because his English isn't the best (seems absolutely spot on to me) and i'm not allowed to interpret what he's doing (because that would make me a mind reader).

I think with someone like wilf you need a team panicking that hasn’t scouted too closely. 

 

I don’t think a single club could watch much footage from the last 2 years and think he’s worth a punt. 

 

Hopefully there’s a club who hear his name, remember what he used to be and lazily assume he wasn’t as good because he was injured…. like many of our fans paint him with. Maybe, someone sees his banger against burton and thinks he’s back 😂

Probably going to be an unpopular shout but if they want to throw us 20m I’d be just as comfortable with Choudhury being the combative 8 Ndidi has been, obviously not as good but least we can sign some wingers/attacking mids
