He didn’t sulk at being dropped after playing very well at Ipswich —he just came on and did a superb job at helping us regain control when we’d started to look vulnerable. A first rate attitude from a proper team player

Very good cameo from him last night, when he applies himself he shows he has the quality, it’s just the attitude and application that is the issue, I just don’t trust him anymore, I am waiting for him to have his next strop, down tools and throw his manager and team mates under the bus.

let’s just hope he stays motivated for the remainder of the season, we stay up and then in the summer we part ways.

Rowett on Winks' reaction to being told he was dropped on Tuesday:

“Winksy was a really interesting one because certainly in the first four games, he’s been our best player in possession of the ball.

“I just felt I wanted to play with two eights and I wanted to test them (Bristol City) in a different way. I felt it needed someone with more defensive diligence (Skipp) at the heart of our midfield.

“He (Winks) understood that. He said it to me: ‘All that matters is that we win.’ I’ve seen it with the way he scored against Stoke, I’ve seen it with the way he came on today, he was fantastic and he cares. He does want to really finish the season strongly."

Its interesting maybe Rowett is a better man manager than the previous 3 clowns we have had, the last one was a particular level of shit.

I don't doubt that Winks has done some things wrong, to be fair he has kept himself in good condition to enable him to come back into the team.  I do question why a player wouldn't move closer to a club, but then it never affected some of the Champions. Really its up to a manager to create a better culture, offer guidance, support or whatever is needed. Clearly Rowett is a lot better at communicating to players from the above, what's to the benefit of his plan, that he sets. There's no doubting who is in charge and most people don't challenge reasoned authority, its when its one without reason of explanation it can cause issues. Ive had crap managers before and it can affect you, unfortunately in a normal job with out a fancy long term multimillion contract, its more difficult to down tools completely else you get fired!

I doubt any of the previous 3 even explained to a player why they were being dropped

People were claiming we should get him back in as he'll keep us up... lol. Today was the perfect game for him because he can just sit there and dictate play yet Skipp, who was totally anonymous, played more passes into forward areas from about 20 times fewer touches on the ball. Also completely negates Mukasa (as well as Skipp). 1/10 performance in the context. Oh, and he was back to his little skipping out of 50/50's

There’s an uncomfortable pattern that when he’s not played, we’ve achieved better results. August and December proof of that.

Rowett’s only win he didn’t start. Returned for QPR and their midfield had a field day

We are ran far too easy in midfield when he plays

I've mentioned this whenever there's been calls to drop Skipp and play him with JJ.  He needs two 8's and he needs loads of time to be effective.

Play two 8’s! The double pivot hasn’t worked all season

Was it him who could have taken Swansea’s player down before their goal? He’s done that before. Absolutely no backbone this lad. Aside from that promotion season all he’s done is moan and cause issues

NEVERMIND - IT WAS THOMAS UNSURPRISINGLY

Can't wait to go to the KP for the first time in months against Millwall, if only to wait for Winks to walk around the pitch at the end, so I can shout C U N T at the top of my lungs.

Hate the rat faced *****.
