Think that’s unfair, he did an incredible amount of dirty work against Ipswich, probably one of the best games he’s had for us. If the rest of the squad put in the shifts Kasey did we wouldn’t be going down. I’d much rather him than half that fecking squad of *****

I totally agree that he has a very good attitude, certainly compared to many around him. But ... he just wasn't anywhere near up to standard in the Championship last time let alone the Premiership! He's not fast, can't take his opposition fullback on, invariably slows play down and despite that well taken goal, is usually indecisive. People are clutching at straws sadly. Just my opinion of course. When feelings about the club are perhaps at an all time low and for me, it feels worse than when we dropped into Division 1, people like to try and believe in certain players. Despite attitude I think Mcateer sadly is a false dawn, don't judge on one end of season match, judge on the last two seasons.

I tend to agree.

Kasey looks to have a decent attitude, but lacks the skills and grit needed at PL level.

He's a Championship player at best.

Against Ipswich he took the goal well enough but defending was dire. He doesn't stop crosses into our box and looks rather lost in the pitch.

Again - this is unfair. He started that Championship season very well and it was his first spell in the team, so he was stepping up.  He got some goal contributions, but was always going to play 2nd fiddle to Mavadidi and Fatawu. After an injury, he returned to a team struggling. He wasn't impactful during that period but neither were many of our players.

Comments like 'false dawn' are counter productive. He is an academy graduate who became a squad option that can fulfil several roles if needed. He puts in a defensive shift as well, and in my opinion doesn't look out of place defensively in the PL. He's never going to be a superstar, nor hit the heights of someone like KDH. I doubt a PL club will bid for him. But to say he's not going to be an option for us next season is wrong. If we keep Mavadidi and Fatawu and Kasey is still utilised on the wing, then he remains a solid squad option.

He did indeed start that season well but I suggest 'flattered to deceive' would be more appropriate and I certainly haven't noticed the defensive qualities you allude to? Just because he's willing to run back doesn't equal good defensive qualities.

When he returned, he wasn't impactful because he's simply not good enough as was seen in the Championship. We saw more potential from a 15yrs old boy in 20 minutes than Mcateer in two years! IF Mavididi, Fatawu, Monga, JJ, Ricardo and Alves, we have plenty of options for the wings without him. If we could get a small fee and save his wages we're best doing so in the clubs financial position. He's had his chance.

You are comparing all the wrong things. Monga is (rightly) tipped to be a major superstar. Kasey isn't and never has been. But, Kasey has more first team goal contributions than Monga does, but surely all of us appreciate that Monga has the much higher ceiling.

After returning from injury, Ndidi was pretty useless in the Championship. Does that mean every he did before hand should be disregarded because he barely made an impact?

Likewise there's a big difference between Casey and Ndidi in every way. What I'm saying is that if you look at all the other players I mentioned, any of them could do a better job than Mcateer in that position, even Ricardo if fit, albeit it's not his best position. Therefore Mcateer would be a waste of a player on the pitch and therefore becomes surplus to requirements.

One goal and suddenly he's the Messiah for some. He really is quite poor. He scored a good goal admittedly but really can't make his mind up at times. Realistically over a whole game he offers very very little.

He’s not the Messiah! He’s a very naughty boy! (Monty python being quoted here) but because he is a naughty boy he would be more effective in the box as he has a bit more about him then the other only striker we got… Daka. Hence I’d rather see him in the box then Daka.

A winger who can’t take on his man and can’t decide what to do so turns inwards and back isn’t worth it.  We have enough players that can’t do their role properly.

He can finish when he is close to the box and acts on instinct, otherwise he hesitates and shuts down.

Let's try him as a striker then

As much as I think he has his limits. I think he’s a good squad player.

He speaks so well seems very grounded. Not of the same level, but reminds me of kingy in terms of attitude and way he speaks.

With 7 goals from 26 appearances when last in the Championship, he might well be sold, can’t be bothered to match that record again either Mavadidi or Fatawu, but I would guess, on goals per game, not much difference between the three

The problem is we have a massively bloated squad of players that are “fine for the Championship”

Long term we need better than that and if we can sell then it’s a no brainier for me as it’s all profit for the books.

They'll be fishing in a different pond now. We've missed our chance to make any money on Kasey imo.

you see the types of players they buy right?

they look at the younger ones they can develop and potentially sell on for more

most expensive signing of late has been Isidor for just over £6mil

so saying theyll be fishing in a different pond is pretty weightless when they dont seem to go OTT signing players like they used too

Still don’t know what he is.

Not strong enough to play in the middle.

Not quick or technical enough to be a wing back or winger/inside forward.

Not good enough defensively to be a full back.

He really is a bizarre player and I don’t mean that in offensive way towards him. More the fact nobody knows where his best position is

Bulk him up and you could make him an 8. There's plenty of more diminutive players that play centrally than him but they tend to be technically on a different level to KM. So an 8 with an engine is probably the best outcome for him.

Suspect if he stays with us he'll basically end up (well stay as) a utility player. Not good enough in any one position, but capable of filling in where needed.  And that's ok for now.

Oh, did you not realise? He's 6ft 4

I think he is simply playing 1 or 2 leagues above where he should be and thats why we just cannot see anything that makes him stand out.
