If we are exploring the French market for a striker, then there’s four possibilities imo...

Thijs DallingaThijs Dallinga - He is a striker that can go through hot and cold spells, his goals pretty much came in clusters last season. When at his best though, he is a complete centre forward imo. Capable of dropping deep and linking play, but also has the capability of running in behind defences. He is also a threat in the air, he scored the most headed goals in Ligue 1 last season. The only doubt I would have is the fee, I wouldn’t be surprised if Toulouse want £20 million plus for him.

Mostafa Mohamed - During the 22/23 season I wasn’t very much of a fan, but over the 23/24 season I’ve very much warmed to him. He’ll have games where he’ll look clumsy, but at his best he is a real handful of a striker. He is also quicker than he looks, very capable of making runs in behind defences. His work rate is also excellent, whether good or bad, he is a grafter which Cooper may like.

Elye WahiElye Wahi - At Montpellier he was one of the hottest striker prospects in the league; however since joining Lens, despite scoring 9 league goals last season, he had many games where he struggled to make an impact, to the point where Lens fans were getting very frustrated with him. It’s been rumoured that Lens could well let him leave, so it’s an option that I wouldn’t be surprised if we explore. He’s had a few controversies during his career though, so he might not be the type of guy you want joining Leicester City.

Terem Moffi - Under new management of Franck Haise, I’m quite intrigued to see what Nice do with Terem Moffi. Last season despite scoring 11 league goals, the style of football that Francesco Farioli played, didn’t really play to his strengths imo, so much so that Farioli on numerous occasions played him out wide. When at his best though, against PSG away way back in September for example, he is a beast who can terrorise defences with physicality and pace. Whether he’d be available for transfer is up for debate, but I wouldn’t mind him at Leicester City.

Those are the four strikers that could realistically be targeted.

An honourable mention to Arnaud Kalimuendo at Rennes, if Maresca was still here, then he’d be near the top of my wanted list, under Cooper though he probably wouldn’t be the right fit.

What I don’t want to see is the likes of Mohamed Bayo(Le Havre), Mama Balde(Lyon), Bertug Yildirim(Rennes) get linked, as that will show our scouting team are fvcking clueless.

Hum.

Thijs Dallinga ... They turned down £20m from Brentford in Jan window so likely to want more and a host of clubs would be in for him if he was available and he would certainly have better options than us.

=Not realistic

Elye Wahi... Again if he was available there would be loads interested and bidding would start upwards of £30m

=Not realistic.

Terem Moffi =see above. Again would be upwards of £30m

=Not realistic

Leaving Mostafa Mohamed... who may be an achievable target but he's really just not very good.

Don’t know whether to be apprehensive or not?

Anyhow @LestaLad I always look out for your posts as you always link in obscure twitter links to transfers for us 😉

Hahaha it does feel like a second job at times, just what I get for searching X all day.

As I said regarding Dallinga, fee could well be an issue with him.

Moffi and Wahi could well get a chance to shine under their new managers, but after the seasons they’ve just had, it wouldn’t surprise me if they do leave their clubs in some way, on loan a strong possibility.

“Not very good” is very harsh on Mohamed imo. He made improvements on the player that I saw regularly during the 22/23 season. Yes he can be a bit Jekyll and Hyde, but he had plenty of games last season where he was a real handful.

If the club is as intent on alienating its fans as it appears then we could do much worse than signing a proper homophobe like Mohamed. Kurt Zouma is available as well to take care of the animal lovers, maybe Joey Barton to join the coaching staff

Completely slipped my mind that he refused to play in games because of his homophobic views 🤦‍♂️

He can get crossed off the list.

Mama Balde it is instead then.

I do wonder what system Cooper is mainly planning on starting with now we are being linked with a couple of attacking mids - as it does worry me slightly what it could mean for Fatawu and Mav as with a back 5 system you can't really get both wingers AND an attacking mid in there

Could it be a back 4?

               Hermansen

Ricardo, Faes, Okoli, Kristiansen

            Winks, Ndidi

     Fatawu, O'Riley, Mavididi

                   Vardy

Didn’t he favour 3 central defenders (3-4-1-2 or 3-4-3) and attacking wing backs.

Using Ricky as a wing back would seem sensible given his injuries, and an extra central defender providing cover for Vestergaard would again be key. Using 3-4-3 would let you include Fatawu / Bobby / Mavididi.

Not sure that would suit Kristiansen tho and so we may need to bring in a new LWB.

Looks decent to me.

Abit of a ‘bombscare’ center back pairing, but would certainly be interesting to watch

Cooper uses all formations, depending on who he plays

But that 343 wouldn't let you include an attacking mid like O'Riley or O'Hare who we are being linked with

It could, look at England last night with Foden and Bellingham.

I mean with both wingers as well. (without one of them being shoved at wing back)

I still think Jaden Philogene would be a good target. Depends how firmly Hull would hold out of course.

Championship, young and English players who’s had a good season. I’m afraid they’ll be wanting £30m

Jakub Kiwior - Possibly on his way out of the Arse with Calafiori going there. Left footed CB/ LB, think we were interested before or was mentioned on here at least.

Loan with option to buy could be decent option.
