Even when this thread was started it was hilarious. A large chunk of our Premier League title winning team, a superior style that got the best out of Vardy in his 20s, and a Pearson mentality. Against this lot? Don’t get me wrong, individually we’re ok, but as a functioning team we don’t compete in the slightest with 2014. That was arguably the greatest 2nd tier side of all time.

I think people just don’t realise how much weaker this league is now. 10-15 years ago English football had so much more strength in depth.

Don't think there is a huge difference in quality from the overall squads. Schmeichel was too good for the league, Morgan one of the best defenders in the division over the previous five years, Konchesky an experienced PL player. Dyer was a top Championship winger, Knockaert a class act, Drinkwater, James, King and Hammond a versatile and quality midfield and three ridiculous strikers for that level (Vardy and Wood have proven it since and Nugent was excellent in that league).

Like Enzo, Nige would have needed to justify not getting that team up. Fortunately he did.

That team got better and better over the course of the season, and became more and more attacking by the end of the season. Wild that we started out with 5 at the back with Zak Whitbread playing, then by the end of the season it was Wasyl and Wes at CB, De Laet and Schlupp at fullback and 2 out of Knockaert, Mahrez and Dyer on the wings.

Based on how the current team keeps losing the ball high up th pitch on it's right hand side, and baring in mind that Nige's team would be counter attacking that flank with Jeff, Lloyd and young Vardy attacking that empty space ... oof. Bloodbath. No matter how many times it happened though, you know Faes would carry on charging into no mans land, losing it then ambling back without ever learning his bloody lesson though.

Last sentence true with massive caveat. Pearson found Vardy and Mahrez from relative obscurity and transformed them into players. We did not have best paid squad in league by a mile. Against Millwall we had 9 full internationals on the pitch. It is just embarrassing our resources now compared to other clubs
