Anybody still have an 'Airing cupboard'?

The days of an hot water cylinder with shelves around are long gone but I guess some boilers might provide something similar?

My parents´ house, built in the 90s, has one. Their previous house and those of my grandparents had "coal houses", built onto the house to store coal

Rattles would have the piss taken out of them nowadays. What's difference between them and having a clapper?

I have a wooden Leicester City rattle, looks home made, which at a guess must be over 50 years old.

I believe many fans made their own in the post war years for big games, so I'm guessing this one could be for the 1949 FA cup final.

MUCH louder than the cardboard clappers.

Ash trays on work/office desks

This is a pretty accurate representation of the newspaper office desk from the late 80s/early 90s.

May be an image of 2 people and text that says "Life before the play station"

My mates and I used to use sticks as rifles until we got our own air rifles.

Carnage followed. lol

Also, the imaginary pistol was a fist with the forefinger and second finger sticking out and the "piung, piung"  calls as we fired our weapons.

Same, Sticks were machine guns when re-enacting war plus imaginary hand grenades, occasionally a potato.

Wasnt there a toy gun that you could stab into a potato and fire it at someone?

From the days when a bloody big hole in the road might have just the one barrier covering part of it and only one or two of these, dimly warning you to be careful.

A time when you were more responsible for your own safety and to watch where you are going.

All knew the historical period we were playing in. No mixing up. I can remember after we had all seen Zulu how this was in vogue for reenactment before going back to ww2 or back to cowboys etc. If you had a toy gun adding caps elevated the whole game. I suppose these war games would be frowned upon now but none of us grew to be violent nutters. In fact knowing about the world wars etc gave me appreciation for a peaceful life that my parents didn't have

My mate and me used to wander the streets with this sort of thing in the late 70's......i'm fairly sure we'd be taken in by the anti terrorism squad these days!

I had a Secret Sam. More discreet as gun and ammo was carried in a briefcase James Bond style

We all used to carry penknives as kids. Would that be even allowed today?
