Well we'll need to replace him and Winks in the summer, so it's something that might be addressed in January.

He’s not a defensive CM, he’s not an attacking CM, he doesn’t tackle well, he doesn’t defend well, he’s not a box 2 box midfielder and he doesn’t pass well. He’ll go on a meandering run every 10 games or so and everybody will think it’s the start of his redemption curve and then - nothing!

One of the small things I enjoy about this level is seeing an opposition player who you can see is on his way up and above the level.
 

Rudoni yesterday was an example of this. He’ll be in the Prem sooner or later and it will make complete sense to me.

 

I could see us going a whole season with no opposition fan looking at Soumare and thinking he’s a cut above. That, given his reputation prior to arriving and some of the clubs he’s played for, says everything.

 

He may do one or two things a game that show some quality somewhere within him, but he’ll never be the star of the show.

From the comments on here and what I've seen on the pitch, my feeling is that he hasn't enough discipline or awareness to be a defensive midfielder, and that the role he's most suited to is a number 8, possibly the role he's never been tasked to play here (to be given that luxury riole you need supporting midfielders who do the donkey work, rather like Tielemans needed).

 

Perhaps he would shine if he were able to be given the limited remit of looking to progress the ball forward at every opportunity, either by passing quickly and moving up in support, or by bursting through himself. I dunno.

 

If a way can't be found to get more productive use of him, would we be better off in the long run dispensing with him and progressing Page instead?

I’m not sure what people are expecting or watching ? was good on against Cov -  good energy , accurate passing and driving forward.  looked better with Winks then skip

It’s the equivalent of someone saying like or um, it’s a filler before he starts to work out what to do.  To me it’s a sign that the attack has now been killed. 
 

I feel the talk of  him making driving runs is just a cope and now a myth repeated to defend him. Nothing ever comes from his runs, he never threads the ball into space for the winger to run on to, it’s always behind them and the attack is over.  I hear the windows shut down music once he runs with the ball.

This was probably the worst result of the last 4 draws considering the opponents/the fact we were at home AND Bouba wasn’t involved! JJ is definitely the better option which is what I guess you mean but last night by not playing,  it was abundantly clear that from now on Soumare should always be selected ahead of Skipp irrespective of where that is in the pecking order!
