Roma Away

Recommended Posts

Had no missile issues on the right side.

We struck up a decent relationship with some and one gave my cousin a silk Roma scarf over the barrier.

We weren't being willy pullers tough so

After the game was the worse part. We were held inside for what felt like hours. Then crammed into busses on the way back, after the game, which sounded like a good idea but I swear they were just driving us round lol

You don’t have to go by the organised buses about 3 to 4 hours before kick off. I know Rome quite well and me and my two lads (in their 40’s) just walked the 21/2 miles via the odd bar. We had our our city tops so got a few mostly good natured comments, but when we were about 1/2 mile from the ground got ordered by the police to take them off until we reached the away end.

Just as well, as we had to walk past the home end, which was like scene out of Gladiator, a couple of thousand ultras, many holding 10ft by 5ft flags and really getting into the spirit of the occasion.

The buses back are a bind. Drove round in circles for best part of an hour. Dumped at the Termini early hours of the morning with all bars shut in the area.

fantastic city too - must make sure to allow time to do the sights

Agreed. It was my first ever time there and I loved it. Managed to sort a hotel so I was there a couple days and went to places such as the Colosseum.

You did well. I found them the worst of the hosts. I know of at least two set of City fans ambushed/barracked into a pub with them throwing stuff

Me and my mates took a bit of a hiding there.

The short cut back to the car park by their 'ultras' stand was a bad idea lol

go up, almost get relegated, win the league, champions league.

Had a wonderful dream about the good old times the other night, unfortunately it turned into a nightmare.

We got promoted, then finished second in the Premier League; Man City were just too strong for us. We've qualified for the Champions League, and Vardy is pissing the league — Top scorer —what a legend. But then, in our final game at San Siro against Real Madrid, Hermansen and Stolarczyk come down with a bad case of food poisoning. Not Ward, though. His diet of donuts and chocolate bars seems to be holding up just fine... Then I woke up.

Can only really echo what others have said.

The only trouble was in the ground. Couple of cracking Irish pubs was where a lot of our fans congregated.

Morning people, Brighton fan here.  Congratulations on your victory last night at the shoebox, and hopefully we'll join you after tonight.  Anyway, I'm on here because we play Roma away next week - exciting times.  However, I see you got 5,000 tickets which is the full away pen allocation but above the 3,500 minimum according to UEFA rules.

So was there widespread disorder in Rome that day?  I only ask because we've only been given 3,500 on police advice which is a pain in the arse for those of us who are on the points border for qualifying for a ticket.  Cheers.

Oh and whilst I'm here - any excuse for re-posting this absolute classic:

Only been to Rome following England and it was pure evil mate....mopeds with 2 guys and the one on the back Stanley  knifing anyone he could reach.  Kept in for 2 hours and still terrifying after the game.  May not be like that for club sides but watch your back, win and keep safe

On a side note, just enjoy the European experience. I don't think you'll ever suffer the same fall as ourselves, but i never thought we would either. Footballs very unpredictable.

I did almost all of the European away's but its only looking back now how i took them for granted. Some of my best experiences with anything football related.

Treasure it and enjoy.

Oh, and good luck. One of the likable English teams competing in Europe.

If I'm brutally honest, the Europa Conference wasn't anything like as good as the other European campaigns. We were playing some absolutely awful teams and only in it because of abject failure.

I was still seething at the Forest cup match and how little players like Tielemans cared that day. I could see my club slowly dying before my eyes that season, and a manager fully complicit in it all that was only bothered about papering over the cracks.

The PSV away game was nice but overall I felt so down about what was happening with the club that the whole thing felt false. Then the performance in Rome basically just summed up everything that was to come for the next 12 months until we eventually had the worst relegation in history.

Yeah not good times for me.

I completely felt this while still enjoying the trips - mainly because I was that gutted that we'd had it wrongly stolen away from us the season before.

It's been weird with Leicester in Europe - pretty much every time we've played in Europe we've been quite bad on the pitch and clearly on the decline. Proper hangover feel.

I never at any point during that Conference League run felt we'd win the whole thing.

Be prepared for a very boring wait in the concourse after the game…. I think they locked us in for the best part of 90 minutes until they escorted us to the buses

I saw and had no issues, but just have your whits about you…

and mostly, enjoy it…. Our game was crap, but the experience was amazing and the city is stunning

We played Rennes, PSV and Roma! Lol... perfectly standard and well respected European brands. Feyenoord V Roma was a final with higher pedigree than Rangers v Eintracht.

as someone else said, West Ham played garbage right up until the final

Thanks very much for the replies all - too many to reply to individually.  We've got about 500 tickets left and my tier opens for purchase at 3pm - I'll be biting my nails until then!  It's annoying though - we should have had 5,000 from the off, as that would have meant most deserving cases would have got a ticket.  As it is, hundreds of STH are going to be left disappointed.

Anyway, I digress - I do hope you get promoted and best of luck in the FA Cup.

I hope you get the feeling i got matey. I didn't go but as the teams came out on TV, a complete full house at the olimpico, flags flares....I was like, wow, they take this and us seriously. It still blows my mind that other teams outside of UK really respect you.

Couldn't disagree more with this. Randers was probably our best ever away end, Atletico was an absolute morgue.

Rennes and PSV were incredible ends as well. Yes we chopped it at Roma but far bigger teams than us have got done at the Olimpico.

Other than Randers were playing decent teams, much more difficult than West Ham had it last year. Think many people bought into the media snobbery over the conference league when in reality it's incredible.

"The PSV away game was nice" is possibly the understatement of the century. This is a real sign of how entitled our fans have become.

10 years ago I'd have given my right arm just to get into europe at all and now we've got fans saying a last minute winner away from home in a european competition was "nice".

Spot on

Feel like you're going off what PSV and ,to a lesser extent, what Roma used to be.

If you enjoyed it fair enough. I just felt like I could see everything unfolding in front of my eyes, and I'm not paid a six figure salary to oversee this shit.
