Faes was dreadful for Chelsea’s first and most of that was Wout being weak BUT Okoli was his CB partner that could see everything in front of him and didn’t even consider to try to either lump the ball/stop Jackson…Okoli is bang average IMO

He just needs to go longer when clearing his lines rather than trying to pick a pass when his teammates under pressure. For someone young new to the league, he's showing a lot of potential though.

He's strong and tough He should be able to learn a lot from Coady and Vesty. Today he was caught facing his own goal when the Ball came in for the Goal.

That should'nt happen really but it's his lack of experience. The big problem is we're losing games while players learn on the job.

Another wildly inconsistent defender signed. 
 

Really good at physicality and a bit of speed gives him out. But he’s not good at reading the game, passing suspect and his heading should be better. Thought he was pants on the second goal

Looks like he has learnt about heading from Vestegard

There's the credentials of a decent defender but he's got deficiencies that need a strong leader next to him and a far better coaching regime.

 

For his size his aerial ability / reading of the game when the ball comes in needs a lot of work. 

 

I actually think his use of the ball is OK, he reminds me of Wes Morgan on the   ball who could play in possession based systems or a more direct set up.

What's also difficult to understand with the history of Defending the Italians have, How he so poor with the basics.

 

I still can't understand how he's an International either. The Italain league standard must have really dropped of a cliff.

 

However we're stuck with him and I feel he can get better.

It is easy to judge them, apart from Mads they are poor players. Wouldn't want any of them if they played for other clubs

Reminds me of Soyuncu in a way - young and very very raw for the Prem who when he did get chances in that first season you could really see he needed some development

 

Once he got settled in next to Evans the following season though a lot of that "rawness" disappeared

 

I think if he was coming in to a much more settled defence with good strong leaders around him (like Soyuncu got with Evans and Schmeichel) he would be a lot more comfortable

 

I can't see Okoli's performances improving whilst stuck next to Faes, I think there might be a chance he improves this season if he has Coady and Vestergaard in the back line with him in a back 5 of some kind

I preferred Daniel Amartey to Faes and he was proper 💩
