Rodgers and Maresca were excellent appointments, the issue was they showed too much loyalty to Brendan when it was clear he had checked out. Cooper has been the only really horrendous appointment and I do think this was largely due to the fact Potter was so insistent on bringing in his own DoF

Can't be bothered to read the inevitable toxic swamp that will be this thread.

The team yesterday was  near to the best we can put out.  We did make some questionable signings.   But all clubs do.

I think Cooper is reluctant to put out too many young players together.

There were really poor individual mistakes. Faes struggles to read the flight of a football

Forest were effective

But we are not far off.  Cooper has neither failed or succeeded at this stage.  I hope he succeeds. I enjoy us doing well

Looking at his first season in this league, he beat Liverpool, Arsenal and Brighton at home, drew with Man City and beat the bottom three.

Can you see us getting 10 points at home from European qualifiers? Two of our relegation rivals don't visit until May in Southampton and Ipswich.

We are going to have to improve performances hugely. The stats aren't good and our run of games from Chelsea to the New Year is daunting in the extreme.

I think our last time in the Premier League shown us how detrimental it can be to have a manager just about do enough to keep their job by pulling out a result when needed. Theres 2 or 3 times that season you could say they'd have had to pull the plug on Rodgers if he'd lost.

It would be mad for us to let history repeat itself but it feels like we could.

Can see a possibility if Cooper keeps us up then we get rid and big Jose comes in? You never know

Could you imagine that, wouldn't be a bad appointment.

Jose Mourinho anyone?

He's just been saying his next job will be bottom half team in England and we are (arguably) the most attractive of that lot. I think, maybe.

Ok according to you then we should be relegated that's your expectation for this season mine is a bit higher, some of those teams have had some tough opposition in those first 9 matches I expect some of them to pick up points we have had a better run compared to some I might be under thinking it but I dont accept we couldn't do better with someone else in the dug out.

My expectation is that we can stay up. 17th is acceptable.

I think my point is really this: if we had 11 or 12 points now, that would have been a really good start to the season and surpassed most people's expectations (surely!). It seems an over reaction to call for someone to be sacked because they didn't achieve this by 2 or 3 points. People are reacting like we are one of the teams without a win and we are on 3 points. If that was the case,I could understand the point. But this just seems like a massive over reaction.

We've got 3rd worst defence in the league. Only Ipswich and Wolves let in more.

Those fine margins are crucial see us in our relegation season, we were only 2 points from safety! So yes sack Steve Cooper, and bring In someone better.

And Southampton.

And Brentford.

And after today maybe West Ham once they're even on games played.

But don't let that get in the way!

I can see your point, but for me it's also the fact that Cooper is woefully under achieving with the players at his disposal due to him just being not good enough. (This annoys me greatly)

Taking your hypothetical point of having 11 or 12 points by now, and bearing in mind who we have played so far, it is IMO a realistic points haul with a better manager with this team.

Others have posted that until we hit the bottom 3 he's going nowhere, sadly I think that's true. At a guess his remit when joining was "just keep us up" and love him or not, hate his style of management, agree with his identity-less brand of 'hand brake on' football, he's doing that.

Don't get me wrong I'm not defending him, I want shot of him ASAP, because as I've said he's suffocating our performances with what's on paper a pretty good team.

Cesc Fabregas would be worth a punt. A decent young manager in the game and has the footballing pedigree to command respect from the players compared to Cooper!

When are people going to realise that Steve Cooper is an absolute dog shit manager. The fact forest are flying now after getting rid of him is the biggest sign....

So Forest board sacked Cooper to go for better, and we employed him. Yup, sounds like Coopers fault. lol

edit I do realise that’s not really the point, but these threads always seem to badly apportion blame.

It was more the point that other fans know we have a bad manager in charge, he’s tactically the most inept manager at this level imo and other fans and clubs know that.

Past playing experience doesn’t matter? We were bottom of the league under Sousa who should have had the footballing pedigree to command respect. Rodgers did nothing as a player but won us a major trophy.

And then set us back about a decade

If he’s the most inept at this level why have three other managers not won a single game yet? Ipswich and Southampton are the worse teams in the league.

The board did that.

However, that wasn’t my point. The past experience as a player was.
