That's a fair point re: the defence, but I still think that, overall, that team should not have got relegated. Dean Smith was able to come in at the end and increase our points-per-game ratio to 1.125, which would have brought us 43 points over a whole season and 13th place in the table. If he could achieve that in such a short spell, it suggests the quality was always there to survive.

Again though we had quality defenders vesterguard, soyuncu just a manager that was refusing to play them

Not that I want it. But would a real hammering tonight see him gone 6+ -0?

 

All the utd players have something extra to play for tonight with all possible new managers watching.

 

Are our players really going to be up for this fight. I'm not sure they will be.

in a secondary cup competition? unlikely. much as a lot of us would like to see shot of him and get a manager who doesn't play the worst football you've ever seen, he's likely here a good while longer.

 

an absolute trouncing at Ipswich might change that if we start to look well behind relegation rivals (and if Everton and Palace win as well to send us to 17th and the gap closing) but currently, no

Dean Smith bought Soyuncu back in. He was probably our best player over the remaining games. Rodgers was to far up himself and didn't care. Cooper just can't see his best players.

This game can only improve his standing with the board.  Lose and it's Man Utd and a competition/distraction from the goal of staying up out of the way. Win and we've just beaten Man Utd and progressed in the carabao!

For our position, and I don't say this lightly, he is the worse manager we've ever had in my near 50 years of following us.

Guy is an utter clown isn’t he. Hugely mistaken about him, thought he’d be ok with us this season. Almost like he knows they aren’t going to fire him so he can do what he wants with absolutely no consequence. That is absolutely pathetic from him this evening.

Why the fuch is he insisting on playing Soumare?, BDCR (apparently he's in the top 5 worse players in the Premier League statistically (I can't believe there's a worse player), Ayew running the line is a complete joke 

 

And where the fuch is the youth - A game against Man U at Old Trafford would have been great for Alves, Golding etc

I won’t defend him, but he’s rightly resting key personnel. The problem is underneath the 15 or so decent players we have is some utter dross. And a lot of it is in tonight’s line up!

Faes would look good with his style with 3 better defenders. He gets slaughtered (and rightly so at times) but the things he does well would look good in a better team. Which is why he will go to a higher team in my opinion. I know that isn't popular. 

 

The old adage of talent means nothing without hard work was the issue with that team. You say the midfield was good enough but Tielemans effort in that season wouldn't have looked good enough for the Championship. If we'd have played with as much effort as we did for that last West Ham game for even a few more matches we'd have been absolutely fine.

I appreciate that but why not have a blend of youth, experience and players needing minutes 

 

He literally has no game plan, strategy, tactics or any pre or during game time thought of a professional football manager - Complete and utter fuching clueless

yeah the last players you'd want in a relegation fight is youri, maddison, evans.

Yea I’m with you on the game plan. Before he came here I always questioned what his approach was, and turns out there isn’t one. Or one that’s obvious
