One of the people who served jail time for taking part in the US Capitol riot four years ago has refused a pardon from President Donald Trump, saying: "We were wrong that day."

Pamela Hemphill, who pleaded guilty and was sentenced to 60 days in prison, told the BBC that there should be no pardons for the riot on 6 January 2021.

"Accepting a pardon would only insult the Capitol police officers, rule of law and, of course, our nation," she said.

"I pleaded guilty because I was guilty, and accepting a pardon also would serve to contribute to their gaslighting and false narrative."

Hemphill, who was nicknamed the "Maga granny" by social media users - in reference to Trump's "make America great again" slogan - said she saw the Trump government as trying to "rewrite history and I don't want to be part of that".

"We were wrong that day, we broke the law - there should be no pardons," she told the BBC World Service's Newsday programme.

Easy to say when you are out of jail and don't need a job.

He also said taxes apparently.

I imagine Putin was at least apprehensive of Trump taking charge because of his unpredictability. He’ll be delighted by this threat because it’s an absolute pile of nothing.

As we know from the first time round, he says lots of shit he will never do, and he does things which were never mentioned before they are announced.  Although he is indeed doing a lot of things he said he would so far, but it is only 48 hours in, plenty of time for more nonsense to be uttered off the cuff that the media gets excited about but never happens.  I think he would be quite happy to lose the ability to do some expensive things in court battles tbh.

These stories seem to be setting the scene for AI age verification on Amazon etc.  Its coming, and they want us to accept it as necessary.  Or am I paranoid?

Best not to be complacent though.

Yes.  I continually find it disgusting that governments seem to always try to find a scapegoat in cases like this.  Captain Hindsight and their bunch of hangers on:

It was the police's fault.

It was social service's fault.

It was the hospital's fault.

Now, it was Amazon's fault.

All of this finger pointing deflects from the actual perpetrators of the crime.

It’s the only logical conclusion I can think of probably turns into a digital ID. Unless the serious suggestion is this nutter only stabbed children because he had a prime subscription?

I would think, however, that some questions might do to be asked as to why this man was clearly known to authorities but they were unable to stop him, alongside clearly acknowledging that the guy is a bastard.

It might help prevent horrible events like this from happening again. These things rarely occur in a vacuum.

Poor Trump, can he not get a bishop that’s on message.  This nasty women is talking about compassion for immigrants.  Does she not know that they are all rapists and murderers.  Geez.

Don't forget empathy for all those terrible LGBT people who are clearly living in sin and are an abomination before God and don't deserve equal rights, too.

Oh, and those godless socialist scientists blinding people to the truth of God and going on about preserving the future when only your own life and then your afterlife matters.

Apparently.

What's to stop you holding up a picture of someone else in front of your webcam?

I don't get it. :dunno:

Also, these things have age verification on delivery, we're supposed to not deliver unless the person recieving looks over 25.

Stupidly, if they're not in, we're supposed to leave with neighbour, who might be over 25... who then passes it on to kid next door

Which is why I never leave with neighbour, but which potentially could get me in trouble for not following delivery protocol.

You also then get the problem of poorly paid, rushed, overworked delivery drivers (or those who just don't care) who might just leave it on the doorstep.

I'm also not sure why a kid would order a knife online. There's plenty of knives in any household that are potentially lethal.

Just seen President Fart has claimed that Congo has emptied its prisons into the USA.

He doesn't didn't say which one though. I'm willing to bet he doesn't even know there's 2.

He doesn’t have a scooby (in line with most of the worlds population btw)

but then none of most of the worlds population isn’t the most powerful person on the planet

can we look on the next four years as being a giant experiment in lunatics actually running the asylum ?   I think he’s surrounded  by more nut jobs than last time - hopefully his Nobel peace prize journey can take a couple years of his time up so we only have two more to get through.  But what will the nut jobs be up to whilst he’s doing that ??

He has a number of businesses. It's hardly bizarre. That such a person would attend such economic forums - particularly given there is a very real chance the topics of housing and hospitality will come up.

Probably still trying to work his ticket to secure hospital instead of prison. Absolute vermin. Needs locking with no prospect of release and hope other inmates get to him

If ever there was a need in extreme cases for capital punishment, then this is certainly one of those extreme cases.
