Daggers Posted 12 August 2024 Author Posted 12 August 2024 Can't some of you just approach subjects with a bit of common sense and a sense of humour rather than trying to fvck everything up for everyone else? The fvck is this even news?
StanSP Posted 12 August 2024 Posted 12 August 2024 Hope the girl and her mum (?) are okay after the Leicester Square stabbing. Kudos to the security guard that stepped in and perhaps saved not only their two lives but perhaps more. Hopefully no anti-white male riots to take place on the back of this... 1
Sly Posted 12 August 2024 Posted 12 August 2024 I’m only just catching up on the news. It sort of puts you off going into London.
Lionator Posted 12 August 2024 Posted 12 August 2024 Another calm day for Starmer, a half an hour call with the Iranian president trying to talk them out of bombing tel aviv A pointless adventure as the Iranian president has little power and actually the new guy is pretty sound compared to other hardliners and the IRGC

Why didn't they show the ones who said, "sure, why not!"? Not having enough room and renting are genuine reasons. You could be breaking the terms of your tenancy taking in a refugee, or in fact, anyone. Edited 12 August 2024 by Trav Le Bleu 3

Migrants already live in every area in the country and are your neighbours, friends, community members and colleagues. I abhor how since the cynically named “2010 migrant crisis”, the word “migrant” has been cynically used by the British media to lump all immigrants together, be them people who have moved to the uk for refuge, work, studies, love, family or any other reason and whether they’ve filled in the paperwork or not (I hate the terms legal and illegal) and to create a negative association with the word. It’s been a large part of the systematic attempt to turn immigrants into the “big bad” of society. One moment it’s cynically used to mean refugees and people making small boat crossings to create a negative association, next it’s used casually when dropping in statistically for non-British or Irish students, workers who work in extremely high end science and technology that requires doctorate degrees or the American or German or Japanese partners of British people, it’s so cynical. Even the bbc and left leaning media sources like the guardian regularly partake in this I remember during the Brexit debates, Boris Johnson in the same article calling EU citizens living in the UK “EU migrants”, then calling British citizens living in the EU “British expats.” Because the former word had been made so much more charged by the cynically titled “migrant crisis”. 15 years later and it’s been so systematically drilled into the public discourse’s heads by this point: Edited 12 August 2024 by Sampson 7
Jon the Hat Posted 13 August 2024 Posted 13 August 2024 I am a migrant so hopefully its fine to live in my area. No one has complained yet. 2
Sly Posted 13 August 2024 Posted 13 August 2024 Surely go back far enough and most of the world are migrants within their historical timeline. Migration isn’t a bad thing, people need to understand that. The United Kingdom has always had a steady migrant population. We’re not all related to Brythons are we. Romans, Anglo Saxons, Vikings, Normans, Flemings, Africans (Slave Trade), Jewish, Irish, European, Indian sub continent, Chinese etc Then when the British Empire kicked in and we decided that we wanted to conquer half the world, we have the migration of people within the commonwealth. Then World Wars one and two. It has always happened, the world just gets more media coverage and provides platforms for people to say whatever pops into their heads. 2

Historically England always had relatively low levels of migration and was a very homogeneous country compared to most in Europe. I think that's why we're one of the most anti immigration countries in Europe, because people aren't used to it.

This is a myth, we are actually one of the most supportive of immigration in Europe, albeit possibly because we have pretty low levels most of the time.
bovril Posted 13 August 2024 Posted 13 August 2024 Just now, Jon the Hat said: This is a myth, we are actually one of the most supportive of immigration in Europe, albeit possibly because we have pretty low levels most of the time. We just saw attempted pogroms and a few years ago half the electorate decided we could do without a few billion of GDP every year because they didn't want to hear Polish on the street. I think we're tolerant and polite about immigration. It's a very thin veneer.
