Are Bournemouth completely ****ed or do we think they'll have another incredible transfer window?

Huijsen (gone) and Kirkez (as good as gone), basically 80% of what has made them perform above expectations this season.

Time will tell, it's a massive window for them.

To be a successful smaller or medium size team you need to have a lot of good windows to replace poached players.

tbf Bournemouth already have a left back in the wings for Kerkez in Julio Soler

on DH, he wasnt even meant to be first choice, i think Sensi got injured and DH came in for him

i fully expect them to get another young CB and LB this summer tho

since when was it this confusing to work out who got what, even the official premier league website where the below information is from is quoting an reporter

UEFA Europa League

English football receives two Europa League places.

One is traditionally awarded to the fifth-placed finisher in the Premier League, but this season it will go to the sixth-placed team because England have received an additional fifth Champions League spot.

The other Europa League place goes to the winners of the FA Cup, Crystal Palace, after they beat Man City 1-0 in the final at Wembley Stadium.

UEFA Conference League

The winners of the EFL Cup qualify for the Conference League.

This season, Newcastle secured a European spot when they triumphed over Liverpool at Wembley, ending their 56-year wait for a trophy in the process.

How else can clubs make it to Europe?

So far, so simple. But things rarely play out as such.

In addition to booking European berths by virtue of domestic performances, clubs can also do so through their showings in Europe.
The performance of Chelsea in the Conference League, coupled with their final league position, could benefit another team.

Chelsea are fourth in the Premier League, one point ahead of seventh-placed Forest, with the two sides facing each other on the final day. Chelsea will then play Real Betis in the final of the UEFA Conference League in Wroclaw, Poland on 28 May.

Depending on where Chelsea finish in the league, their performance in the final could directly influence eighth place.

By rights, the winners of the Conference League get a place in the Europa League. If Chelsea beat Betis and finish inside the top five, there will be no change to the English allocation. Chelsea will qualify for the Champions League and no other Premier League team will get their Europa League place for winning the Conference League.

UCL - PL top five, UEL winner
UEL - PL sixth, Crystal Palace (FAC)
UCoL - N/A

But if Chelsea win the Conference League and finish sixth and Newcastle finish in seventh, or Chelsea win the Conference League and Chelsea finish seventh, the Premier League gets an extra team in the Europa League, and 10 in Europe, according to ESPN's Dale Johnson.

This would also mean that HALF the Premier League would be playing in Europe next season.

UCL - PL top five, UEL winner
UEL - PL seventh, Crystal Palace (FAC), Chelsea (UCoL)
UCoL - PL eighth

For the clubs looking to finish eighth - Bournemouth, Brentford and Brighton & Hove Albion and Fulham - the performance of Chelsea is now their only chance of playing in Europe next season. They are the only team who could win a European title and finish in a position to cause this drop down.

In this scenario, we also need to assume Newcastle have finished inside the top six to allow their UCoL place from winning the EFL Cup to drop down to the eighth-placed team.

So the teams vying for eighth still have some work to do as they head into their remaining Premier League matches.

There's a few clubs where one or two losses to players will transform them from mid table to relegation fodder, Bournemouth being one of them. Southampton had a wonderful couple of years and lost everyone like Mane, Van dijk etc, and these clubs such as Brighton, Brentford, Bournemouth, start losing a couple of big players and it's could all go wrong. Mbwemo could leave Brentford, Semenyo and Kerkez could leave the Cherries, Brighton could lose Baleba, it will be interesting to see if any of the promoted sides (most likely Leeds) can replace any of those sides next year.

Crazy in the last 5 or 6 games we are midtable in the form guide. Spurs and Man u firmly positioned at the bottom.

Our only wins against the other two relegated sides isn't great reading though is it? The only win against a team not near the bottom 5 all season is Bournemouth and how we won that game I still don't know.

I have said before and will keep on saying that every club besides Arsenal, Liverpool, Chelsea, Manchester City, Newcastle and Villa is one bad transfer window away from getting sucked into a relegation battle if the promoted teams have decent summers. You could make a case for Everton, Wolves, Bournemouth, Forest and Brighton having a serious drop-off next season.

10 teams possibily playing in Europe next season will make for some interesting fixture pile ups, especially with 5 of them playing Thursday night with all of them taking the competition very seriously.

And i think you see Forest and probably Brentford drop off. This could be a good season to get promoted.

They go about it far more quietly than Brentford and Brighton but their recruitment is generally pretty consistent.

Huijsen isn't "gone", that makes it sound like he's run out his contract. Huijsen is being cashed in for a massive profit after one season.

It's a huge win. Well done them.

Also as good as Huijsen is, he’s only been there 6 months so easier to say bye as less emotional attachment. Imagine teams will be sniffing around the likes of Kluivert & Semenyo as well.

Wouldn’t say this Villa squad is any better than our one that dropped off post the FA Cup win

Everton have financial stability for the first time in decades too

Cannot see any of the promoted clubs bridging the gap unless any of the prem sides lose a manager - Fulham, CPFC, Forest, Fulham, Bournemouth all miles away from the newly promoted sides - plus Farke, Parker and Wilder are not in the same league imo - we need to use this season to not only go up but have growth within the players we use - I do think the year after maybe interesting as more likely some of the managers will move especially if some of the big 6-8 continue to drop off !!

I think Semenyo is better than Martinelli. Not sure if arsenal will bid for him 🤷‍♀️

I think Leeds pull the trigger on Farke quite quickly and will likely make a good appointment. If any scrape through - its them.

It was more a reference next to his name as the Kirkez one is undecided whereas his is very much a done deal :)

But yes they've done well, could easily get £80m for the two before even thinking about Semenyo.

The biggest blow for Bournemouth would be losing Iraola. They've been 3rd-6th all season on underlying metrics with quite a few serious injuries too.

They also just seem to be soundly ran behind the scenes so I'm sure they'll be fine. Lorient (same ownership) are also top of Ligue 2 and their 18 year old top scorer (22 goals in 30 games) is already on Bournemouth's books.

If Arsenal had any sence they'd sack of thunderbird willy puller and get Iraola in.

Villa definitely have more depth than we did then.

Bournemouth seem to have a fairly firm  recruitment strategy. Wouldn't surprise me if they've already got replacements lined up for a few players.

If Arsenal had any sense they'd sack the manager that's finally stopped them being a laughing stock, got them back up the table, managed two second place finishes in a row and had them in a Champions League semi final?

I can't get my head around the criticism of Arteta, he's done really well there. Jurgen Klopp is celebrated as one of the best managers of his generation but he consistently "failed" to catch a Pep Man City side. There's just a finite amount you can do to best Man City across a 38 game league season, short of them imploding, isn't there?

And is anyone going to say with a straight face that they think Arsenal have a squad as good as Liverpool or Man City's or the resources to properly close the gap?

Think he's well and truly delivering par, frankly. Any Arsenal fan that thinks they should have been in a title race this year is a bit delusional and has massively under estimated Liverpool and Slot.

All good points, I just can't stand him, particularly his laughy jokey defending a rapist stance.

Also as a manager I dont think he creates an environment for his players to strive to be better, constantly rolling out "we're the best, no one has been better" etc etc when the tables/results show exact opposite?
