We won the league by 10 points against an Arsenal side that had Ozil and Sanchez at superhuman levels and a Tottenham side that simply didn't let up until they finally dropped points against West Brom. There were three very decent sides that season, any one of whom could conceivably have won the league.

Just give it up. This season is about the same as when we won the league. If Sanchez was superhuman for Arsenal so is Salah for Liverpool, there’s no difference.

It’s okay to say Forest are having a good season.

Out of the big 6 weren't Spurs the only side that actually did better than the season before when we won the league and they only got 4 points more.

I think so, but they had been a pretty serious side the season before as well. They were like a haemorrhoid on our arse that season- even Sky Sports were basically willing them to catch us at times. They only really collapsed after they slipped up against West Brom, the day after we'd spanked Swansea without Vardy. Psychologically, that ruined them.

I don't recall ever denying they have had a good season. 😂

You and Tommy Fresh seem to take it personally for some bizarre reason.

They have benefited from teams slipping up around them. Undeniable. There's nothing wrong with saying that either, but you two seem to take that simple fact as if I've just taken a shit in your lounge.

I don’t take it personally but you turn this thread into Forest and it’s boring. Every week I read how “lucky they were” or how “the league is not as good as when we won it”. We benefited from teams slipping up around us too when we won it. The season after, 16/17, we were nowhere to be seen.

At the end of the day the top 4 or top 6 teams finish in that position because they have consistently been better than the rest. That is what a league table is all about.

We were nowhere to be seen the following season because we lost Kante, recruited poorly in the summer and struggled to balance UCL football and Premier League football. It was a huge missed opportunity to build on what we'd done and make ourselves punch consistently above our weight as European regulars, a bit of an English Leverkusen or Villarreal.

The only teams that significantly declined the season we won the league were Chelsea and Manchester City, and the latter of those before they had become the enormous dominant force they have become under Pep.

Again, we won the league by 10 points. The two achievements are poles apart. It's OK to say it, because it's factual. Forest have benefited enormously from teams having poor seasons by their standards. So did we. But we achieved far, far more in a more competitive league.

I don't take anything on here personally lolJust don't agree that they've been lucky and if they have then so were we.

Like you I don't think they'll sustain it past this season, and I'd love them to **** it this season as well.

In context with the amount they've spent you could argue that they should have expected some kind of European qualification eventually.

I'm offering a bit of nuance here.

At no point have I said it's been all luck. I'm saying they have ridden their luck when they have had it.

Were they in control of Manchester City having their worst season for over a decade? Aston Villa having an almighty injury crisis? Newcastle being atrocious over Christmas? It's up to them to take advantage of all of those factors, which they did, but remove any two of them and they're no longer in the UCL spots.

Manchester City will be better next season. Villa would be desperately unlucky to have an injury crisis like that again. Forest will have to balance UCL and PL football. They will, most likely, be midtable next season.
