Ideally we can sell his mate Winks in the summer and recoup some of what we wasted buying his not so good mate. But the not so good mate should be okay for us in the Championship playing the Winks role.

He wasn’t useless in the famous 3 v Villa. The thing about our midfielders is each is lacking a certain quality to make playing 2 (with 2 central defenders) suicide. 
 

Skipp in a compact midfield with 3 central defenders is a different player, never will he be worth what we paid for him but right now, how we are setting up and continue to set up, does not suit the majority of our players. And if we keep doing that, it’s idiotic.

Probably the main issue, but not the only issue.  Skipp was simply a player we didn't need.  It was as baffling at the time as it is now.

The workload placed on winks and Soumare /Winks + Skipp / wilf + Winks or any other combo  is simply too much. Pointless calling them blind. They can't do it. They all need a third person to enhance their own skills and limit exposure to thier weaknesses. 

 

As the post above says, two of our better performances - Villa and Palace - came with a winks, Wilf, Skipp triumvirate.

You've hit the nail on the head here. We know the players are very limited and most aren't PL standard but in that situation you need a manager that can adapt tactics to get the best out of the limited players we have. I honestly think we could have a chance of staying up if we had someone like Dyche who would just get us doing the basics right. It would be horrible to watch but it could keep us up. I don't have anything against RVN and I do feel sorry for him in many ways but he's clearly not the right man for us right now.

He's got the stamina of Cliff Young but that appears to be it, he's be a ''worker'' in a championship midfield but not sure what else he's capable of.

Two games in a row that a player we signed for £25 million (majority of our transfer budget) hasnt made the match day squad. Who at the club thought signing him especially at that price was a good idea? We all knew it was a shocking bit of business from the reaction when he was linked in the transfer section. So why did the club think it was acceptable?
 

Slow, weak and has zero physicality whatsoever that is needed to succeed in the Premier league but the club thought hes good enough to be starting for a Premier league club. They have completely wasted the money we got for Maddison

None of us have ever seen enough of him to warrant the stick he gets. 

 

The transfer fee isn't his fault. The Dutchman refusing to play him isn't his fault. 

 

I suspect he's a very decent, fit, reasonably mobile and tidy player....and will be much needed in the championship

Exactly.. the Championship. Hes not a Premier league footballer. It was appalling business by the club in the summer. Was like having a youth team player in midfield when he started against Newcastle. Completely bullied

I don't think we can judge Skipp at the moment.  Leicester is a graveyard for several half-decent players, so it wouldn't surprise me that he would probably shine at the right club with the correct setup.

I am in the lay off him camp, not his fault Rudkin put a target on his back he was once one of the best championship players a few years ago and im sure if we play him in whatever his actual position is next season he will likely be one of our best players in a promotion bid.

He'll be important next season. He's a Championship standard player. Probably be the next Vestergaard in that respect - a forgotten man who surprises the fanbase by stepping up against inferior opposition.

 

Like others have said, I don't have any ill will towards Skipp himself, just the board for pathetically spaffing what little transfer budget we had on someone of his caliber. He's just the ultimate example of how poorly-run we are, moreso than Reid or Ayew given they cost peanuts in comparison.

 

I dread to think what wage he's on, though. Will not be in the least bit surprised if it comes out that he's in the top 10 best paid players in the second tier next year.
