Watched the Oxford game. Nelson was solid throughout. Played more as a right back in the latter parts but he looked like a rolls Royce. Alves lifted Cardiff when he came on, he was energetic and clearly has bags and bags of quality, Cardiff are ****ing dog shit though, so everything he tried was fruitless.

lovely header. the lad has to start for us next season

I really want him to be.

Honestly don’t see us shaking Faes, Vesty and Coady though.

And Souttar will be here, injured.

I wanna see Okoli and Nelson as a pair. But we won’t.

tbf Faes will be off, suspect we'll try and shift vesty too, Okoli wants out as well

Loaning out our best centre back is so typical of how poor we are run and how our leadership is so frightened to rely on academy players.

I’m all for digging out the club, but you can’t call a player who hasn’t played a premiership game our “best centre back”

He looked class when he played for us last season. Also I know youre going to say that Vestergaard and Faes also looked good but they got exposed a lot last season but weren't punished due to the lack of quality.

He can defend at least which none of our others can do.

Defending at championship level and prem level are totally different. He needed this season (and now next season too) before stepping up to the prem.

Your point above re Faes and Vestegaard equally applies to Nelson. Suspect that Nelson would have been at fault for a number of goals if he’d been part of our back 4 this season.

Cant wait for next season with these world beaters everyone's talking about.

What with Nelson narrowly avoiding relegation with Oxford, and Alves's relegation with Cardiff.

Hope they both live upto the hype. Can't speak for Nelson, but dont think Alves has stood out much in a very poor Cardiff side.

Oxford surviving is a brilliant achievement. If he’d played the whole season they’d be top half and he’d be in the championship team of the season.

You can when our other centre backs are Vestergaard, Faes, Coady and Okoli.

I completely agree, prime Sergio Ramos material.

He was out for months with an injury wasn't he, and was doing well before his injury, and come back from that and been solid again.  Alves I'm a little more on the fence with. I've watched him for Cardiff every chance I've had since he's been there, and while he certainly has shown flashes of ability, I can't honestly say that I've been totally won over that he's going to be a game changer for us in the coming seasons. What I will say though, is that it hasn't helped having had no game time all this season, until his loan started, and then being in an absolutely atrocious Cardiff side.
