Just imagine if we had to sell him to get the club out of a PSR mess in June, basically sacrificed to cover signings such as Skipp, BDCR, Ayew and Eduoard…..it makes you fecking weep the level of mismanagement at the club and yet still people defend what is happening and could happen due to the poor decisions continually being made by the top brass.

one loan to a bottom half championship club and he’s suddenly worth £30m…

Considering we have spent £50mil on Vestergaard, Faes, Coady, Souttar id rather keep Nelson than task our recruitment team to spend £30mil on buying a new centreback.

It's not out the realms of possibility he has to be sold before the end of June/the summer. All depends if we're a) facing a PSR breach for 24/25 without significant sales or b) facing problems evidencing complying for 25/26 and need to front load our attempts to comply.

He's a £40-50m player in the making but you look through this squad and scratch your head as to where we can even turn £10-20m profit on anyone other than Hermansen and that's quite possibly not enough.

Sickening.

He's been linked to Chelsea and Man City previously, before any sort of experience too.

Looks like he might've picked up an injury in the warm up / been unwell and will miss Oxford's final game

Now the EFL season is over, is he available for our remaining games this season?

Would be good if he got some game time and started in our final games.

Wait until you go on to the Alves thread, there's been a comparison to Maradona.

We're going to be unstoppable next season.

Just admit already that you want him to fail so you can get your "I told you so"'s out

Its less about him, but more so the expectation people are putting on him.

Dont panic yourself,  I hope he's decent too, just perhaps a bit more skeptical of what I've seen so far.

Of course I want him to do well, but I've seen nothing in the Cardiff games to suggest he's going to be key to our promotion hopes.

:dunno:

Perhaps il just stick to the forum narrative and say that he's amazing.

But I don't think anyone really is expecting him to be this all star, amazing, team carrying player?

You always get the one person who will go OTT but the vast majority on here seem to be accepting that he will likely be a good squad player for us to have around next season and were just happy that he has had an alright loan

Maybe have a word with his manager Gary Rowett then. Usually managers down play things in comparison to fans expectations but when he's trumping him up as a future England international and top class PL defender then you're trumping down wind son and you'll smell it fast.

Comment was about Alves, not Nelson (yes i know it's the Nelson thread)

I saw Oxford conceded 3 and was worried that Nelson struggled a bit in the last game of the season. Goes to show the impact he has that it all falls apart when he's not available.

They’ve definitely been better defensively with Nelson in the side.

That said, they were away to Swansea who have been very good recently so it wasn’t a bad result for Oxford.

I wasn't comparing him to Maradona by the way but if you wanna misquote me to fit your point of view it's fine

It'd be so incredibly dumb to sell this lad. We're not gonna get anywhere near his peak value and we need a quality centre back. It'd genuinely be worse than giving Vesty another 3 years, which is single handedly the worst decision I've seen a football club make.

Clubs who make bad signings now pay for it by selling their best prospects to balance the books. People rightly slate PSR but every club who's been forced into that position has done so because they've been so irresponsible. We fall into that category and then some.

Sounds like he's done well, no idea how Oxford overall have performed or how they shape up tactically? Is he playing in a controlled manner as a dominant Leicester side would expect? Interested to know.

I don't watch the kids as closely as some do on here.

Stupid question, but can he now return for the run-in now Oxford's season is over?
