He is 15, slighty dramatic

Not really, supposedly Manchester City and Chelsea are interested in him. We've got brilliant facilities at Seagrave but it's merely a white elephant, clearly no decent coaches there over a long period of time now! All fur coat and no knickers.

Our system of sending players out on loan is slow, too late and to clubs that are hardly well thought out, Braybrooke to Dundee for example

Compare that to certain other clubs like those two mentioned and he'll at least get some decent coaching.

I was in the corporate area tonight and I spent a few mins before kick off chatting to a former player in the media box. When we got on to Monga he basically said he’s made the first team squad to bulk up his reputation and fee, and that’s he’s off - he’s received offers from everyone bla bla bla. There was winking going on on and all sorts when I probed…

None of this will be surprising, but thought I’d share anyway.

This is what most of us assumed.

I get the whole giving him the experience of putting of the bench but I guarantee the only scenario he comes on is if we're 2/3 up with 5 minutes to go.

Sadly we will never see him as a leicester City first team player.

Much like Nyoni who went Liverpool, he won't even be associated with Leicester if/when he starts making a name for himself within the media or fan bases.

There was a Liverpool fan on Talk shite the other week, going about this super talent Nyoni who is going to be a star of the future, and how it just goes to show what a great academy they have, and how they are not just reliant on buying players, they make their own too.

I'm pretty sure he hadn't got a scooby that they had took him from Leicester, and the guy presenting the show clearly hadn't either.

It will be the same with Monga.

The real injustice is though, is that in the longer term, there is a decent chance that we will be losing out on millions of pounds in a transfer, despite us being the club that nurtured them.

slightly annoying he didn't get on and we only used 4 subs, the amount of times Ruud does that is weird, rushed the change with Daka injured and meant neither Monga nor Stephy could come on until Extra time

I agree totally with the sentiment, and think it's essential for the future of the game that they get to grips with what's basically the trading of children for significant sums of money. Surely there's something fundamentally immoral in that, and it wouldn't be hard to establish some norms which protected youngsters and the academies that nurture them. But I'm not sure we're entirely innocent either when it comes to Monga, or did I misread something?

I thought Monga should have come on with at least 20 minutes to go.

How much worse could he be than Ayew who was finished after 65 minutes.

With his pace running at Utd you never know what happens.

Maybe there should be a default 30% sell on fee if a team poaches a youth product

honestly the simplest partial solution is to make the international rules apply domestically as well. Monga cannot sign for the real Madrid academy unless his parents are moving to Madrid for non footballing reasons, apply that domestically, because currently we're talking about the combined effect of PSR creating existential crises for many clubs - to manage in PSR clubs without major commerical incomes (aka the greedy six) have to make a habit of buying low and selling high or developing youth talent to sell; and the latter becomes less and less viable if the greedy six can poach whoever they like from an academy and pay maybe a 10th of the fee they'd be expected after a couple of years in the first team.

Surely rules like PSR are to ultimately to encourage good behaviour by clubs. What is better behaviour for the game than investing in developing youth talent? That should be promoted and protected.

it should, but it isn't currently, and it will harm the England national team in the long run. Allow constant poaching and clubs getting maybe a couple of million for players that would be worth far more and clubs will start to do the calculations on whether it's actually worth having an academy (Brentford have already done this). if a significant chunk come up with "no it isn't worth it" then how many players fall through the gaps?

If it's a can of peaches it's got a shelf life of way more than 4 years, so you and the kids should be ok there.

Out of interest, why would they be annoyed with those 2? Is the issue the treatment in the youth teams or is it about the lack of first team opportunities?
